My 99 year old father is using the Resound Nexia hearing aids. We have had several issues with them. Currently we cannot get the volume loud enough for him to hear anything at all. His hearing loss is significant and this is a huge quality of life issue for him as he is extremely social. when removing from the charger we hear 13 beeps. I have searched for an explanation for this and was directed to this forum. We have read and re read the user manual and looked on line. These were provided for him by the and it takes forever to be seen again by thier audiologists so we are searching for a solution while we wait on the appointment.

The series of beeps just mean that they are turning on.
Are they Behind the ear aids with a plastic tube to the ear mold or is it a wire to the receiver in the ear.
If a wire, have you changed the on the end of the receiver ?

As @GrayGhost said those 13 beeps are just letting you know that they have been turned on. I’ve had Resound aids for years now, those start up beeps drove me mad. I can’t remember if my just switched them off or she altered the default settings. I now only get 1 beep, thank heavens.

It’s 10 beeps actually.

It can be very easily adjusted to be 5 or none in the fitting software by the audiologist…

I would also look at the , although if you can hear the turn on beeps the it’s probably not the wax filters.

@david.hendon, Sorry, but my new aid 3 weeks ago had 13 beeps, as I counted them out in front of my . Which I had adjusted to 1 beep.

That said each type of aid could well be different in the number of beeps they sound. Eg Nexia and Enzo. My old Enzo 3D had 12 beeps, I don’t see the need for all these beeps, they are enough to drive you mad.

My Ambio S 98 Aid has 13 beeps.

My Audi asked if I wanted them turned off and I did. She turned off all the beeps.

Yeah that’s different, should be 10 or 5 as this would be the first time ReSound has changed it, I always change to 5 as 10 was a bit much for me.

Yes my Vivias are the 8th type of Resound aid I have had and all of them have been 0, 5 or 10 bongs depending what is set in the fitting software. (I tend to update my aids often, just because I can, but I never got round to buying Nexia.)

The reason for the start up delay bongs is to allow people with low dexterity to turn their aid on and get it into their ear before it starts to amplify and squeals with feedback. Also the bongs are a guide to the user whether it’s in properly and working when it turns on.

I also have it set to 5 rather than 10.

But I’m sure @Deaf_piper can count to 13, so I believe her, but I can’t explain it.

Just looked at SmartFit and it’s not 5 or 10 bongs, it’s actually 5 or 10 seconds of bongs. So perhaps some instances of hearing aids run faster and can fit 13 bongs in 10 seconds.

Well that is a possibility I suppose. With my Omnias, I always thought one aid started more quickly than the other, but I never knew whether it was just that inserting an aid with my left hand took me longer than with my right hand.

The number of beeps is inversely related to the cosign of the pull of the moon and it phase.
