I think this is especially interresting for You!
Q: Is it possible to install both, Roger receiver (02) and (03) options into the same Phonak Marvel hearing aids?
A: Yes.
So that mean you can install Type 02 AND Type 03 X-Receiver in to Marvels. But not with the iN device because that have only 03 on it.
But if you have one installer as i have now with my bundle i can install 02 and 03 at the same time in to Marvel and use all Type of Roger Deveice.

Yes the person from Phonak HQ said you would need a 02 Roger X and the installer. The 02 Roger X will work on all Roger devices.
You can’t install 2 x Rogers in to the Marvel, you’ll just need the 02 Rogers.

Today i got the first real life test with my new Roger Select device together with compilot II
and Audio Venture in my better air.
My right air was unaided because i lost my Cros Receiver and that ear ist deaf anway.
During Lunch time i was on on table in a very noisy self service Restaurant with 6 People…
I have understand clearly each of them on this table.
I must say the Roger Select is outstanding and is worth every penny i have spend for it.

Well, tomorrow is the day I have to either pony up the big bucks, or else return the Roger Select iN that I’ve been trialing. My spouse thinks I should keep it because she knows how much I like having gadgets to play with. Of course, that’s easy for her to say because she’s not going to help with the cost.
Anyway, the thing is amazingly good at picking up voices in a restaurant, or other noisy environments. With just the two of us, it doesn’t much matter, but still helps. Last Friday some eight of us were in a Chinese restaurant, seated around a large round table. There was one of those large turntables in the middle of the table, so I had to settle for putting the Select a foot or so in front of my space. None-the-less, I could hear the people on the other side of the table just fine. It’s sort of like dual ear trumpets that get passed by some weird magic, instantly and effortlessly, from one speaker to the next. All voices funnel directly into both ears!
Then, there’s the thing about poaching on someone else’s Roger feed at church, and hearing the pastor like she’s speaking into my ear…sometimes even when she’s just chatting with another parishioner some 10 or 15 feet away. That latter part feels a bit voyeuristic, but I can probably learn to cope.
The thing that still confuses me a bit is streaming from the TV or a computer. It works fine for those things, but doesn’t appear to do so in stereo. I thought it was the phone jack on the side of the TV, but that jack supplies stereo sound to ear buds.
My TV doesn’t have a TOSLINK output, i.e. optical audio. But it does have a digital audio, which is called S/PDIF, I believe. That’s claimed to be Dolby Digital Surround Sound, or some such, which sounds like stereo to me. So, I got a thingie to convert the S/PDIF to TOSLINK so that I could feed audio into the Select docking station. That works, but still is clearly not stereo. So, I’m guessing that the Roger Select iN just can’t do stereo. That seems a bit weird to me, but I guess one can’t have everything, even for a kilo buck…or so.
The other weird thing about using it for TV streaming is that if I use the S/PDIF to TOSLINK approach, then muting the TV with the remote mutes the sound for me as well. Also, the sound doesn’t appear to follow me if I get up. On the other hand, if I use the phone jack adapter on the side of the TV, my spouse can mute the volume she hears, but mine persists, and the sound I hear seems to carry with me if I go into another room for a bit. Still things to learn, I guess.
Anyway, that’s the decision that will keep me awake tonight. Well, that and also trying to figure out how to schedule a last snow shoveling expedition so that I can dig myself out in time to head out to the audiologist in the late afternoon.

As an update from me. I have a Select with Marvels 90-13T with RogerDirect. I also have Roger Pens.
I love the Select. I tend to bring it with me everywhere just in case I were to need it/could use the extra boost. It works so well. It’s actually incredible. Best hearing aid accessory I’ve ever used.

Right now for a new select/pen combo you would have to spend around $2000. Used stuff & Ebay is iffy but cheaper. But, my guess is that some Chinese start-up will develop some kind of knock-off before too long. If $$$ is an issue I would wait a bit and see what happens.

Thanks, do you use both when at at loud place such as restaurant ? what makes you choose one over the other ?

I’m still learning how to use them, so far the select is way more versatile but it is awkward to use when standing and moving around. I haven’t used them both at the same time yet. The pen works well only when pointed directly at someone but the select is more useful in groups. Probably no real need for both.

@focusandearnit
Thanks for the update, and glad it works so well for you. I have just ordered my Select IN and it should arrive early next week. Did you or your audi have to make any/many adjustments to the Roger programme in Target to get it working so well?

The Roger license transfer would prevent knockoff communication, AFAIK. It’s got to be the real and only reason for this diabolically complicated procedure they demand for use.

I do believe that Phonak is entitled to reap the benefits, and profits, from this incredible little device they have developed. And, i believe in copyright protection. But, it is hard to believe, with all this high-tech ingenuity around, that there is no way to hack it or to develop an alternative work-around using a different protocol. There are the multi-mic and remote Bluetooth mics that do similar things albeit not as well.
The select is a wonderful device, and could benefit a lot of people. But, it is too pricey . That ain’t right!

2 new uses for the select.
Just back from a short family road trip in a big SUV with 3 rows of seats. 8 of us, I was given the front shotgun seat but had a hard time hearing the conversation in the back. Put the select in the back and heard everything clearly.
Select comes with a magnetic clip so you can attach it to someone, like a lecturer, so you can hear them over a distance. But I clipped it to the end of my sleave and by turning off all mics but the front one, I was able to point just like using the Roger pen. No advantage at all to having the pen.
