Is there any 3rd-party accessory compatible with Oticon Intents that is similar to the Phonak Roger? I’m looking specifically for a discreet handheld form factor.
My inspiration is a friend who is profoundly impaired. He wears Phonaks. (I tried Phonak Spheres, which didn’t work for me.) At any social function, he holds a device that almost looks a bit like he’s holding a silver cigar. I believe he told me a long while ago that it’s a Roger. It’s not obnoxious – standing at a cocktail party, he simply points it toward whomever he’s speaking with. He can even hold it between his fingers while holding a drink glass.
I’ve looked at the official Oticon accessories page. Clip-on mics don’t do it. I suppose the EduMic might – but that looks kinda clunky for cocktail/dinner party or restaurant situations, and situations where the conversation flows from, say, someone in front of you to someone at your side.
I’m a longtime user, with severe-profound cookiebite loss. Have worked with my audi to tweak both Speech in Noise and Comfort programs. It still ain’t great. My husband has had HAs for a couple of years, with more mild loss. Even so, I worry that we are tending to withdraw in social settings because of voice recognition issues.
