I’m still having issue with my hearing aide. Been 3 months now and still can’t get it right. Right before I got my earmold for my right ear I could hear loud and clear and now its really low. Still keep getting the response that maybe I hoping for to much even though I heard really good before lol. Anyway to get to the point. I have a power receiver and earmold in my right ear. I was in the movie theatre and my right aide was going nuts. My wife said it keep giving alot of feedback and ringing loud. Now for me I couldn’t hear it but the movie. I did turn them down and it still didn’t do anything. The weird thing about it though is I was hearing louder in the right ear compare to the left one. Don’t understand that. Well after the movie I went to try and adjust the volume again and my right one wouldn’t work. I could still hear out of it but the volume control wasn’t working. I had to turn it off for 30 minutes in order for it to work again. Anyone heard of this before?

My second thing is about the microphone. I read somewhere that you should have it set a certain way. I think mine are set wrong. They have it set in the (tri-mode). I notice there were several settings: tri-mode, dual-mode, split, directional, and a few other. Which setting do you think is best?

So you are using a pair of Agil Pro hearing aids…

Are you saying that before you got your earmold, you were actually hearing better than now? I guess you were using some type of power dome before?

Your right ear thresholds only give me a fraction of the information needed to diagnose this issue for you. What is your preferred listening level or ? However going on an assumption, I would guess you like your volume at about 85-90 as an average. Your left ear should be about 75-80 dB. That said, both need a bit of power, and therefore need an excellent seal in your ear canal must be obtained.

My guess is that before you got your earmold, the use of the power domes provided a deeper fitting and better seal. Therefore you heard more. This makes sense.

My advice to you now is to block up any vent you may have in your earmold. Use cotton and stuff the vent full of it in a careful fashion so that you don’t break the earmold. See if that solves your feedback issue (ask your wife if you can’t hear the sound yourself). The side effect should be that you hear more volume/clarity when you do this. If not, but the feedback issue is solved, you can then go back to your dispenser and get them to block your vent and increase volume/clarity.
