Since I got my Oticon Intents about 3 months ago App disconnects have been a part of life for me, but got to be constant after I got the Firmware update one week ago. Saw my audiologist a few days ago for help. While checking my aids she commented that they were showing connections to three phones…I only have one phone! However, the first day I had the aids I had put the app on both my iPads, but removed it when I had connection issues with my phone. My audiologist confirmed that the iPads would show up as phones, she wiped out all the phones and just reinstalled my actual phone. When I got home I couldn’t believe it, as long as I kept my phone within range the disconnects stopped completely. It has now been 5 days without disconnects for no apparent reason (such as wandering out of range). My husband did an Ai search about the issue and discovered that hearing aids using the Bluetooth LE hold on to former connections even when removed from the other end and the ‘ghost’ can create interference with existing connections. According to the response, Bluetooth LE is meant to be for connection to only one device at a time. If you experience frequent disconnection you might want to remove additional devices and have your audiologist check whether your aids show any remnants of other connections. Hope this helps someone else!
UPDATE ON MY PREVIOUS POST: It has now been over two weeks since the ghost connections were removed from my hearing aids and I have not had any spontaneous disconnections, not a single one! I used to carry my phone around in a small shoulder bag when at home in an attempt to avoid disconnecting, but I have stopped doing so. Periodically I ‘check in by simply opening the app, which shutters for a second or two and then fully connects. I have not had to turn my aids off and then on to reconnect or do the same with Bluetooth…not once! Even when wandering my house without my phone on me I have had no problems getting phone calls on my aids.
