Oticon intent 2 first use and some questions

Hey to all,

I just got my oticon intent 2 through Kaiser in maryland. I love them overall and the sound and directional focus is great. I do have a few questions and one issue. First, is there a way i can increase the microphone volume when i am on a call? I am using an iphone and the Mic Inputt is set to on so it goes through my hearing aids. I would rather not have to hold my phone up to my mouth like i use to do with my widex moment 440. Second, i had them turn on the T coil settting but when i use it there is no ambient sound other than the coil, even thoough volume is set to 50 percent. Lastly, how do i get the Oticon Genie softwhere to learn to ? Any suggestions you guys have are appreciated. Thanks,

Hi there @Nikosman yeah seems a good idea to check in Genie2 to see what adjustments you could do to make things a bit better then you have, so do read the user guides before starting plus you’ll need the Noahlink wireless programming device as well.

Ditto on not liking holding the phone while doing a cell call and using the aids. But I think we’re stuck with whatever volume level is being pushed via the phone software. Give the Apple “accessibility” gang a call to confirm.

Thanks to all for your response. I will get the software and begin learning it, slowly. I do have one request to anyone who is willing. Please reach out to Oticon app support and ask them to make the app more user friendly for those using “Voiceover,” on an Iphone. Voiceover is the screen reader preinstalled on all apple devices and is used for those who are blind or have low vision or other issues related to reading print. There are many parts of the current Oticon companion app that are not accessible with voiceover these include; mute/unmute, split volume, equalizer, the area where you can search for available , and the area where you can create custom programs. I could be wrong on this but to my knowledge, Voiceover is not allowing one to adjust these settings. I have reached out to Oticon support and there response was that they are aware but uncertain when/if a fix is coming. Feel free to pass this info along to anyone you know that uses the Voiceover screen reader on Iphone. I am not sure if the talkback screen reader for Android will act the same but imagine it would. If anyone has any other hints on how to best use this app please let me know.

Not that I’m aware of. I gave up on that functionality a long time ago and always use my iPhone’s microphone when I’m on a call. On the other hand, you can adjust the loudness of the phone audio streamed to your hearing aids, though. You just need to increase the volume in the first option below (“Phone and Loudness”).

Genie 2 gives you four options. You can choose either a “” only program (which sounds like the one you got) or a “T-coil & Mic” program.

If you select “T-coil & Mic,” you can also adjust the relative volume balance between the T-coil and the hearing aid microphones in Genie 2 (from -9 to 0).

Thanks all for the advice. I went yesterday and they fixed the t coil setting so it works for my remote mic, yay? Also apparently there is a new update for Oticon intents? One more question, can anyone recommend a good AuraCast USB receiver for personal use that I can use say when on the go?

I use the FlooGoo FM121 as a transmitter from my TV and computer to my Intents. I believe it can also work as a receiver, although I’ve never tried using it that way.
