Hi everyone!
For almost my entire life, I have been tied to the Apple ecosystem. One of the reasons I stayed with iOS for so long was the (Made for iPhone) hearing aid compatibility.
But recently, I decided to finally take the leap. I wanted to see if Android had caught up. I bought a OnePlus 15, hoping the experience would be just as seamless.
My hearing aids are Oticon More 1 (firmware is fully updated). And well… my Android experiment has been a massive mixed bag.
Streaming media, music, YouTube, and podcasts is absolutely amazing. It’s loud, full, clear, and perfectly balanced. I was genuinely impressed.
BUT! The moment I get a phone call (normal cellular or WhatsApp), everything goes downhill. The caller’s voice becomes incredibly quiet, muffled, and compressed.
Is this just a fundamental limitation of the protocol on Android? Has anyone found a clever workaround or a hidden setting in modern Android/OxygenOS to prevent the phone from aggressively throttling call volume?
Or is this an Oticon More limitation, meaning I should just upgrade to the newest models to fix it?
Also, I’d love to know what the streaming and call experience is like with other Android brands. Has anyone here had a similar experience, and if so, what did you do?
