Oticon Real "squelch"?

It’s hot here so we run a fan in the house. I wear Oticon Real 1. I notice that the quiet rustling of the fan is sometimes causing a different whooshing sound in my left aid, that cuts in and out, as if it is fluctuating right at a squelch threshold. Turning my head slightly also affects it. With the aid off or removed, the strange whooshing is gone…

Is that normal for Oticon? Why would it be noticable in my left ear but not the right? Is that sort of thing adjustable?

Sounds like noise cancelling software?
When I wore Opns, it couldn’t cope with applause so it would cut in and out. Wonder if that is happening here?

Me thinks the problem is your acoustics, If your left dome/mold is not seated correctly it will cause an effect like you describe.
When this happens, try moving the dome/mold around to see if it clears up.
It’s very common to have different size ear canals in left/right, so possibily you need a larger size for your left ear.
Like @PhilCreighton mentioned, it could be feedback management, although that usually affects both ears, but you could have your audi check the feedback manager setting in the Automatics screen in Genie 2. They can also run the feedback analyzer just for kicks!

Odd, I also get a strange whooshing-type sound only in my left /ear from time to time, and I wear Phonak Audeo Infinity 50 hearing aids. It only seems to happen when connected to the “myPhonak” app. It sounds like the snowy/staticky audio from a television back in the days of “dead air” from a non-broadcasting TV channel.

Do you only get this when using Bluetooth?

Edited to add: Oticon and Phonak are both, of course, Sonova brands.

As for the whooshing-type sound, I wonder if it’s related to your location relative to a wall. I only get this noise in my left ear/, and when it does occur, I am consistently sitting off-center in the room, closer to the left wall than to the right.
