I have a pair of Philips 9040s that work well, my problem is that the bass domes for the approximate size I require would be 7mm. The 6mm are too small and the 8mm are too large and it would appear that Philips does not produce 7mm bass domes.
I would be grateful for advice on to how to overcome this, for me, serious problem.
Starkey comfort bud 7mm domes are what you need. They fit perfectly. Ive been using them for 2 years because I have an allergy to the clear philips domes.
I don't know if the 9040's are the same or similar to the Philips 9050... but I've been pondering a similar question... wondering what other domes might fit these
I'm only about 2 weeks into my trial, so I haven't gotten into a real sampling yet, but the choices of domes I have to play with don't seem to fit my needs as they are.
One thing I'll throw out to the OP... the Audiologist at costco when she set me up with this Philips trial, sent me with a small variety of different-sized domes because I have a history of different-sized canals and irritation from a poor fit. She made a strong point twice, to tell me that if needed I could cut a slit in a dome if needed. I took it to mean a radial scissors cut that could allow it to fit and conform better, &/or to make it a little mit more of an . I tried it on some that felt a tad too big, and it was good, except in my case I found that it adds more variability with insertion
I don't really know what's going on, but sometimes I feel like the insertion is cocking the receiver at a bad angle, resulting in blocking the sound from it and making the aid feel more occluded. I think that customizing the domes might have a place, and I just need to experiment more
If I were to try some starkey's, or some Phonak EasyGuard domes, or some other random thing.. Am I good if they just fit onto the receivers securely? Or is it more complicated than that?
I agree on the Starkey domes, which are the only ones I used on my 9040s. Yes they fit securely on the 9040s. I use them because of itching with the Philips domes. These domes are supposedly “closed”, but I don’t think they are, as I have no sensation of occlusion. I recommend them:
