Phonak Brio R-312T Questions...and New Hearing Aid User Questions

As a new user for about a week, I like my Brio…I have questions.

What strategies do you use to remember to put HAs in and to take them out…especially before a shower.

Does one need to use a dryer? How often? Under what conditions?

Why is the Brio R-312T considered top of the line?

The Brio R-312T is the same as the Phonak Q90 with the exception of 2 or 3 features. How important are those features?

What special precautions if any do exercisers or outdoor people take with HAs? Does anyone use Ear Gear? If so is there an inexpensive equivalent?

Will the Brio work with an iPhone? If not, does Costco carry an equivalent HA that does work?

How do the volume buttons work? The buttons on my HAs are set for volume. The right button increases the volume; the left button decreases the volume. When my right button is clicked all the up, the HA sounds a “ding dong” When the left button is pressed, it beeps with each push 4 times…then there is a different tone for the 5th push. Then the left button goes down 4 more times; on the fifth push, there is a “ding dong”…which may indicate the end of the line. Does that mean that there are 10 levels down and 10 levels up?

My Costco trial runs out on Jan. 26th. Are there any other hearing aids that I should consider trialing?

What maintenance and cleaning would you recommend? Techniques? Cleaning tools?

I put a note on the mirror and the shower

Does one need to use a dryer? How often? Under what conditions?

Lady at Costco said that dryers are most needed by heavy sweaters and heavy wax producers…she said a dryer is good to have

Costco lady liked ear gear…said depends on how much moisture. She said heavy sweaters and wax makers have more receiver problems. She showed me a PerfectDry LUX…$40

yes with the ComPilot…for $250, one can Bluetooth with a TV or iPhone. I ordered it; 90 day trial. Costco lady said no one has returned one to her.

Costco lady said 5 steps up and 5 down…but I showed her that there were 10 up and 10 down.
she changed my programming so that the right HA could select regular or zoom to the person speaking…not sure about the name. The left HA now has 5 steps volume up; hold button down to take volume down. I’ll test all of this and edit to correct.

Costco lady said to use wipes…she was using Lysol Brand II Disinfecting Wipes
