Yes, I have used ZipHearing and had very positive experiences. Two of the individual audiologists referred were respected local audiologists I was familiar with. Decided not to pay the high prices that the Sonova and Dement retail outlets wanted.

Did you ever sort this out. It is exactly my experience. I got the purchased pair changed, and there was no difference, the noise reduction did not wrk ike the trial pair. Everything was the same, same domes, settings transferred from trial, etc. I am abut to give up and send them back

Tom,

No. My audiologist did say he was going to save in the back the trials I used. I’m about ready to go back. Your case is helpful.

I wonder if you could go in and basically tell them that they simply must sell you the trials. Surely there’s a way to bypass whatever it is that makes them trials, which I understand is that they shut off after 6 months.

I have trial P90s but I have not found a way to turn off the trial feature. When I wear them, as a second backup pair, I have to connect them to Target to reset the trial period.

It must be something that an audiologist’s software could handle, if they can find out how.

But resetting every few months seems OK

I purchased them from a clinic and I have the software, so I doubt it.

Something that I’ve noticed when transferring settings, is they don’t transfer identical.

I’ve had two sets of the same Aids which slight difference in settings because they don’t seem to transfer identical.

I’ve self programmed for nearly 15 years and it’s been on all my Phonak Aids.

Up until I lost my remaining hearing, I’ve always bought a back up pair of the same Aids which is why I’ve had experience.

This :backhand_index_pointing_up:. I would ask the audiologist to start from scratch or find one who will.

Very interesting. My audiologist transferred settings from the trial Phonak Spheres I90s to the new ones. He thought that approach would be optimal and it sounds logical. But on the other hand, maybe indeed there’s something lost or bollixed up in the transfer. I can go back to his colleague who did the first set-up and get her to start from scratch.

Was it something important affecting speech in noise that was observed as being changed during a transfe?

I found a lot of settings weren’t the same not just in the speech in noise part.

Things like NoiseBlock and SoundRelax etc (there’s more but can’t think off hand what they were) weren’t the same plus the G numbers and .

They’re not even the same, when copying setting from the same hearing aids. There’s a lot of weird skulduggery going on

Yeah, and send them a message via the app and you’ll get the usual canned response: that they’re making things better all the time, and see your audiologist for anything tha Phonak should actually be wanting to learn about and make better.

The only way to be sure is to have two versions of Target open to compare or screenshot all settings for the older aid and compare.
Does this strike you as a typical procedure in a time driven environment.
You get a warning from Target that all settings will not be transferred, I can’t remember what they are but believe US that it is not to be trusted.

I’ll make an appointment with my audiologist and see about reprogramming from scratch. Definitely a disappointment that the trials worked great but not the new Phonak Sphere I90s. And a further disappointment that Phonak engineers are probably not aware of the issue.

My audiologist tried with two new pairs, and probably I should have just returned them for a refund during the 45 day return period. In my state, it’s 30 days by law, but they jack it up to 45. I still have my Oticon Mores for backup, which are 2 generations old, but they work fine. I only got the Phonak’s because the trials worked like magic in my local watering hole.

Wait guys, no. Transfering isn’t always identical when you are transfering across different devices. Say, Audeo Marvel to Audeo Lumity.

If it’s the same device, sphere to sphere with the same acoustic coupling, it’s always the same.

I haven’t read the entire thread, but consider just sending them for repair if you haven’t already. The “wow” factor of new hearing aids also wears off fairly quickly. If the clinician did indeed still have the original trial set, it would indeed be worth trying those out and seeing whether it’s really different.
