Phonak Infinio Spheres with one closed dome and one open dome

I will be getting the Phonak Infinio Spheres in a few weeks. I have been using one and one open dome on the current hearing aids due to variations in my hearing loss. Left ear is worse than the right ear.

Will the Sphere Mode work for me or do I need custom molds? I read here that open domes don’t give the noise reduction, but since I have one closed dome which probably will become a power dome with Phonak would that do the trick?

Pure anecdotal answer. The type of dome is determined by feedback testing, not specifically to the sphere noise reduction function. Sphere is a noise compensation algorithm, not noise cancellation as with headphones. It will function as intended with the dome that your standard fitting demands. Looking at your , assuming it is recent and would form the basis of your next fitting, I would not have thought you would need a change in domes at all. But that is to be assessed by the audiologist that does the fitting.

The “function as intended” is however a movable feast, and a more occlusive fitting is helpful if your are exposed to loud noise over long periods. If that is the case, you may run into battery life when in sphere mode for prolonged periods.
