Phonak Paradise Battery/Charge Issue

as mentioned earlier, change the settings to OFF so the aids don’t start to discharge straight away. the problem STILL is the P90 won’t hold charge for all day use with bluetooth switched on. I use my old ones until about midday but the right one still struggles to last. I sympathise with there CPAP- I get that too. rucksack trips are a thing of the past! (take note Ryanair)

travel a lot, spending lots of time in airports, on planes, and often in primitive locations. I also travel very light, rarely with more than Carry-on. And, I stream a lot. But, I am sold on rechargeable , I learned my lesson after one bad experience. I have a small bag with back-up HAs, adapters, multi outlet battery packs, an extension cord with sockets and USB ports, and assorted cables. Not a problem if you are prepared.

Over the past few months my Marvels started dying between 8-11 pm depending on how much streaming I did. There were a few other issues I needed to address, so I sent them for warranty repairs. As part of the work, Phonak replaced the batteries and now they are ending the night with 40-45% battery remaining. It’s a good indication of how much the battery life had decayed over 3 years.

I think reduced battery capacity for any type of battery is because of the continuous desire of the companies to make smaller and smaller aids, When I had aids that used larger batteries I got a week out of the batteries. Now with my KS9’s I get 2 days on the bluetooth side and 3 or 4 days on the other side.

I have Costco KS 10.0, a Paradise clone. I kept experiencing one or both read when I would get off. And when that happened my battery powered charger would also be dead. What I discovered is that my phones Bluetooth or iPad Bluetooth or TV Bluetooth would connect to the hearing aids when I wasn’t using them and discharge the batteries even if they were stored in their case. Or on my ears. So I have learned that I have to keep the Bluetooth turned off in order to prevent that from happening.
I too have had travel issues with enough plugs, so I carry in my travel kit a tiny triple outlet wall plug that converts one of the resort, hotel, etc. outlets into more than one electrical outlet. I just have to remember to pack it when I leave. Lol!

I had problems with new P90s occasionally (twice) having one of the aids not fully charged in the morning. Charger was replaced and no further problems.

I love my rechargeable P90s, BUT I do occasionally not get through the day if I am up early, late to bed and an hour or two of streaming or calls. These would not have been suitable when I was working and spending hours on the phone each day.

This is particularly bad for me when I do international travel: early (or late) flights, lots of streaming and noise reduction on the flight, then arrive often early morning or mid-day someplace else and need most of a day’s charge there.

I sometimes have days that are 3 days long. I’ve learned to nap on flights and charge my with available USB ports. If I’m on one of those rough bush flights without amenities I use my battery pack.

Once in about 10 charges, one or the other of my ’s will show that they are charging when I put them in but upon taking them out in the morning one will be gleaming red. I deeply regret getting the P90’s. Never again.

For the OPs actual issue - I’ve had it happen with my M30s once or twice only in 2 & half years. I put it down to not seating the properly in the charger or dirty contacts. If it happens I seat them in/out of the charger once or twice (to clean/scrape the charger contacts) & clean the contacts on the HAs with HA cleaning (iso) wipes.

Re the posts on travel - I recently bought a power bank with trickle charge - also other terms used for the same feature is low draw. This works perfectly to charge anytime, anywhere & it has the benefit of being wayyy cheaper than the HA offerings & being multi use - phone, tablets etc… Any more recent power bank that states low draw or trickle or smartwatch / airpod compatible should do.

I had the same problem with my Kirkland KS 10s from Costco that we know are made by Phonak. I put them in the charger case at night and in the morning one would be almost dead, red light. Not every night so it was frustrating.

So I contacted Phonaks automated contact and mentioned that I did reset them. They sent back an automated message and suggested, guess what? Try resetting them.

Next I called my local Costco where I bought them and they suggested, guess what? Yup I reset them so they said they could send them out.

Then my wife said “why don’t you try a different charger block?” I dug out an old one, checked the specs where the same and they haven’t done any of that crazy stuff since.
