Phonak Sphere Speech in loud noise question

I had Phonak Paradise 90 aids for about four years and the upgraded me to Infinio Sphere Ultra 90 aids about two and a half weeks ago. I’m noticing an improvement in speech clarity overall. Also, I asked the audiologist to add a Sphere Speech in loud noise program that I could switch to manually. I’ve intentionally put myself in very noisy situations a few times with the new aids and the aids have never switched to Sphere Speeech in loud noise mode. I have manually switched them to that mode after it became apparent they were not going to switch automatically and it noticeably cut down background noise and I was easily able to hear someone across the table from me. I like having the manual program that I can use as I want but does that preclude the aids from switching to Spheric Speech in loud mode automatically? In other words can I have the Automatic Spheric Speech in loud noise function and ALSO have the manual switching capability?…or does having the manual capability preclude use of the automatic ? I am using custom ear molds if that makes any difference. Thanks.

I have both a custom program and the Autosense. You can have both.

The switch to Spheric Speech in Autosense 7 can be adjusted for quicker or delayed switching by your audi.

I have mine set to manual spheric mode only, because I was travelling and was afraid that on long plane trips, they would burn through the battery life. The flipside of that, though, is on occasion I forget that they are in spheric mode and forget to switch it off.. :sweat_smile:

Good move. Custom Spheric Speech control is best for a lot of reasons.

You probably use P or UP receivers, which also consume extra power.

When I was flying all the time, I didn’t wear hearing aids back then. But I wish I had had a mute button!

There is such a button. Press bottom part of rocker switch for 2-3 s. It must have been activated in the Target software beforehand.

And in myPhonak app there is that button too.
