Oh that’s intriguing - just when I’ve finally arranged a trial of the spheres ! Wonder if there is any more info anywhere!

I read a blog by an surgeon talking about his goal of preserving as much natural hearing as possible when he does cochlear implants. It also said that not only do many of his patients use a hearing aid in the non- ear, some of them also use a hearing aid on the same side as the CI - especially when listening to music. I had been wondering if any people who have a CI had also tried simultaneously using the CI and bilateral . Apparently, some do, and get a combination of acoustic and electronic hearing on the side that has the implant.

Yes, it’s called a hybrid solution - electroacoustic stimulation. There is an additional receiver which is connected to the housing of the sound processor.

Its got to be the Virto Rs. Now, given the delay on the Virto Rs, it might ALSO be something else that was already scheduled. Reminds me of everyone doing and z-power and phonak just being like, “no wait, wait, . . . waaiit. . . here’s the Marvel, happy birthday android users.”

Z-power… I have never heard about that technology, just read about it. Wow, it was very promising, but now it is permanently closed.
Bummer, I have found replacing rechargeable batteries with disposable (and vice versa) very convenient with my Nucleus 8 sound processor and Nucleus 6 previously.

Z-power was brutal. Constant repairs and failed batteries and then bankrupt, many angry patients, made a lot of clinicians think, “I’m never going to fit rechargeable again”.
