Curently trialing Phonak Infinio Sphere Ultra aides to replace my Luminity pair. Have never (in three weeks) experienced automatic switch to spheric speech in loud noise. This, despite tweaking by audio. If I switch to it manaully, it works fine. Is there a threshold setting controlling auto activation ?
My understanding is that you need to set the manual Spherical program they way you like it, then visit your audiologist to have the autosense Spherical program adjustments made. But I would keep the manual Spherical program just as a fallback, as I have found there are times ou will want it when it will not automatically switch into play, or it switches back and forth which can be irritating.
Audiologist may have it turned off in the automatic mode. Go back and get it checked. Should come on automatically even in places like the grocery store or walking down a busy street.
I had the Activation Level set to 1 in Target and had the same problem you describe. At the suggestion of someone on the forum, I set the level to 0, and now Spheric noise reduction comes on readily in noisy situations if speech is detected in a very noisy environment.
The same person suggested that I turn off Dynamic Noise Cancellation for the AutoSense program Speech in Noise, the idea being that Speech in Noise would actually function less well, the programming would detect that, and decide it would be best to turn on Spheric Speech in Loud Noise. I have not fiddled with the Dynamic Noise Cancellation setting for the Autosense version of Speech in Noise to see if it actually makes a difference. Speech in Noise still activates upon occasion. In MyPhonak, tap and hold the program name, then tap the ADJUST button to see what program is active in AutoSense.
I’ll try to find the helpful post from several months ago to give credit where credit is due.
The battery life quickly declines when in Spherical program, regardless is it is manually set or by a manual program. But for the Ultra firmware update it isn’t as bad from what I have been told. My Spheres haven’t been updated.
go into Spherical program faster than I would like.
There is a sound threshold to bump into spherical. You can ask your audiologist to bump that up a bit. Regardless, this is why I like having as a manual program besides SSIN.
