Phonak Target sound file calibration

I’ve been using the Phonak Target software and I’m very impress with the features and abilities. I really like the “fine-tuning” feature where they provide different sounds (birds, key clicking, etc…).

Question, just so I’m making sure that I’m in the proper environment for making these adjustments, how far away from my speakers should I be? I know that it states to calibrate the sound level to 80db, but is the distance a critical thing?

best way to fine tune your hearing aids is in real world conditions, so take your laptop down to your shopping mall and find a coffee shop and start tuning same with your local park, beach or wherever. Obviously you’ll need to use icube ll so get one off ebay if you haven’t already.

I’ve even done this with my Hi-Pro and wires, too. I’ve found it incredibly useful.

But as for the OP’s question, I’ve definitely wondered about this too. Same thing in the clinic – in every one I’ve been to, there’s just a set of speakers in the consulting room. Not really a replica of any challenging acoustic environment.

Thanks, that what I thought. I plan to do this fine tuning first and then take the great suggestion of going outdoors.
