Phonak vs Starkey for music

In the Phonak pic: Anything below 6K that you see a difference between the prescribed target and the curve is the adjustment. I transfered this from a Rexton. Not exact science but works.
My hearing loss is not bad but I also have bad patulous ear tubes. that combo can get crazy in complex environments.

Glad it works, however I would be careful to say that from the Rexton can be the same as with Phonak, because they have different size receivers and different domes. However, I would do the same having the same circumstances. Another story is with , when you can interchange non- earmolds.

Patulous auditory tubes - you mean your eardrum is then too overreacting for stronger stimulus?

Can I ask if it’s true that music programme is better over all, I’m having trouble adjusting to digitals (still wear analogue) and I’ve seen comments a few times on internet that music programme is closest to analogue feel, so wonder what your opinion is on this, thanks.

The music program is very linear, and therefore does sound close to the old analog sound. It does not have the same clarity for speech in complex situations for me though, so I can’t say it is better overall. Everyone is different…

I just wanted to follow up on my original posting. In the end, I gave up with my supplier, went elsewhere and now have a pair of Widek 440s which are absolutely great for music in general and organ playing in particular.

I have been told more than once that Widex is the brand preferred by musicians. So, this fits. In fact, they advertise some features that are important for musicians.

I have Starkey (not a musician, but want to enjoy music listening). I am having trouble convincing my audiologist to spend any time helping in that regard.

BTW, Starkey says that the Music program uses a special fitting formula that would be different than the other programs in the hearing aid.

Regarding Starkey. Anyone know why the Music program is only available as a professional program (one of the 4 in the hearing aid) and not as a custom program in the app? It seems to be the only one that can’t be set up as custom. That is a shame. I don’t need to use it as one of the main 4 that are easy to access, but want to be able to use it and putting it in a custom menu would be nice. Am I misunderstanding something?

Can you ask your audiologist to make a copy of the Music program, which then would become a custom program which you could adjust to your liking? I’m only familiar with Phonak Target and Widex Compass, so not sure how the professional Starkey program works.

Yes, that is a good idea (making a copy).

I asked, but the audiologist ran out of time and didn’t want to take the time to try to experiment. Each meeting has a short window and they try to prioritize. I would like to try it one day.

And now, my audiologist has left the practice, so I guess I need to start over with someone new.
