Just purchased a set and the only problem I have is listening to music in the car. The volume is not stable whereas sporadically it goes extremely high followed by a significant reduction in the sound
My audiologist adjusted the “music in car” setting within the automatic feature but to no avail. Note that using the music feature is not a viable option since it’s not supported by thus the outside sounds are not suppressed
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated
The music program in the audeos really boosts the lows and if you’re in an occluded fit it can get pumpy when it flips between music, speech in car, and speech in noise. Get your clinician to compare the music subprogram against the calm subprogram and reduce the lows in the music program so that they are closer to the calm program.
Are you sure it’s switching to Music? Mine usually defaulted to Speech in Noise when I listed to music in the car. Maybe that says something about the quality of my speakers, or my taste in music. If it’s jumping between Speech in Noise and Music, that will be jarring. I don’t see how you could program around that without defeating the purpose of one or the other.
Note that using the music feature is not a viable option since it’s not supported by AI thus the outside sounds are not suppressed
My understanding is that only suppresses noise in Spheric mode, which isn’t on most of the time. If you’re fine the rest of the time, you shouldn’t need that AI here. (And while I haven’t experimented with this, I doubt music would sound very good in Spheric mode.)
With my Lumities, I copied the Music program and then changed the settings to add a low amount of noise reduction. You can do that in the app. Getting the right balance between filtering engine noise and not mangling the music took some trial and error, but it didn’t take long, and I was happy with it. I plan to do the same again with my new Spheres.
Others are way more experienced and smarter than me, but my experiences with my i90 spheres with slimtip silicone molds with very small vent are as follows and my audi has played around with this. Not sure of your loss and that may help.
Autosense does not work most of the time for me. It finds a program that is good and switches away and sounds terrible. Almost like it thinks it is smart and missed the point in the exact situation you describe.
Not sure which fitting formula you are in. The Phonak program did not work with me. We experimented with the (?) fitting formulas with these and my lumities. He balanced to have some of those characteristics and I currently have 4 programs and the best that works is Speech in Calm. All around.
I have autosense. I have spheric manual. I have music (we tried after Car did not work). That is too intense in a way I can’t describe. I have speech in calm with a narrowed focus. That for some reason brings out music in car, in a quiet room streamed through my portable Bose speaker, watching TV and hearing my wife and others.. This is where I spend 8% of my time with spheric manual. I asked if he can turn off auto sense completely and he advised no.
All FYI my loss is is severe and I will likely be going a different route after medical clearance with a cochlear after medical approval. None are perfect, just what works best for me.
