Question regarding Costco / tinnitus

Hello, I’m new to the forum and am glad I found it, so much great information.

I’m 66 and have had tinnitus for several years. I recently had a hearing test and was told I had mild to moderate hearing loss. They recommended Oticon hearing aids for hearing and tinnitus that cost $4700.00. I’m on the verge of retiring and really can’t spend that kind of money. I wondering if anyone has information/advice on a Costco alternative for hearing/tinnitus.

Give Costco a try. You can get very good hearing aids for about $1500. You have 180 days to decide if you want to keep them. They won’t specifically try to adjust them for tinnitus, BUT just getting properly adjusted hearing aids can help and most of dealing with tinnitus is just getting used to it.

The tinnitus features that I’ve seen in hearing aid are just noise makers to help cover up the tinnitus.

If you have high frequency tinnitus, then most any hearing aid will help even without a tinnitus setting being set.

I would be interested in reading if anyone here with low frequency tinnitus has been helped with hearing aids.

Costco, of course, will not program the tinnitus feature even if the hearing aid has the ability. However, you can always go to the section and they can tell you what you need if you want to try it.

You can download a tinnitus sound app on your phone and test it with the hearing aids to see if it helps. I downloaded the Resound Relief app and it is fully customizable to your liking

You could purchase the aids from Costco - you have 180 days to return them - and download the app to see if the tinnitus masking works for you

Many people see a reduction in the volume of their tinnitus just by wearing hearing aids alone. I get about a 30-40% reduction when I wear my aids.

As other have said, for me, the tinnitus program really is just replacing one noise with another

I got my aids a few months before I retired and wasn’t budgeting for them and was overwhelmed by the sticker shock. I went with Costco and will go back in the spring of 2026 to purchase my next pair
