Hello all,
Had to join to advise of my experience “not permitting Phonak Audeo S IX to get wet”.
Bought 4 years ago. Overall, these HAs have met my expectations; I have fairly low loss-- worst case 60 at 2K. left ear. Anyway, I had removed them, forgot to turn them off, and placed them in means pocket. Yup. Remembered, halfway through WASH cycle. So, drained wash tub, and there they were–laying on the bottom. Still turned on.
I was certain it was new HA time for sure. After drying, replacing batteries, etc-- the right one is fine. NO issues. Left has a slight crackle, most obvious when first turned on. After that, the crackling occurs perhaps 4-6X/day, lasting 2-5 seconds…not so bad! (these are their ceramic shell model, BTW)
So thought maybe a re-fit was in order, and that perhaps it would “blow thru” the left side crackling: over-write it or something… it did not.
I actually believe that the problem is that I retrieved them DURING the WASH cycle----- and that therefore there is residual soap and whatever else is in the soap “coating” the circuitry. Can’t help but wonder if I actually CLEANED it–again-- in an attempt to remove what may be that residue causing the problem— that may clean the residue off and it would lose the crackling sound!!
Such a strange situation-- I felt I should join–just to post it! Also kudos, for once, to an HA manufacturer— can’t say THESE haven’t exceeded expectations! Thx, Phonak.
