to me when a MFG. is pushing AI as a selling point I shouldn’t have to physically change MY PROG MYSELF… when I enter a noisy enviroment… because then it seems like I’M the AI not the HA’s
IIRC, Resound marketed that the most important element of a hearing aid’s setup is… particular user intelligence…!
I don’t know how far it goes back, but my paradise switch programs based on a variety of factors. A certain level of noise will put the in speech in noise. Speech focus is about 2/3 of the way from “Wide” to “Narrow”. This is what the “Restaurant” manual program is from. Past another level of noise it goes to speech in loud noise. This is where my activevents close and the focus goes all the way to narrow. It changes when I get in the car. I don’t remember all the problems autosense has at its disposal but it changes based on several factors all by itself. And some people hate it.
I’m odd man out.
I wear Starkey Edge .
I do have to set the edge program manually for it to work. They are the different programs to choose from. Noise control is one
I really do not mind that.
As far as automatic, everyone perceives how noisy it is differently.
I guess Starkey let’s me decide.
Phonak as stated does have autosense.
It can choose for you.
Not everyone likes that.
Choose whatever works best for you.
My previous aids were Starkey/Audibel with a restaurant program.
Night and day difference between edge mode and restaurant.
I hear in restaurants I would never go to because of the nose.
I have the vivia5 and going to audiologist tomorrow. I’m contemplating exchanging the 5’s and upgrading to the 9’s for &1000. Any info or help would be great.
I’ve recommended to have a trial on Viviva 9 with a custom mold and UP receiver with a cross . I’m unsure whether this HA is suitable based on Hearing loss level as Im a wearer so I walked away.
The Vivia could be worth a trial. But if you’re sure you prefer , ReSound does make a BTE model, the Enzo 1A, that in many ways is comparable to the Vivia. The main differences are that the Enzo doesn’t have the Dynamic Neural Processing () chips that the Vivia has, the Enzo extends to Profound loss where Vivia caps out at Severe loss, and the Enzo’s even more expensive than the Vivia. DNN does a lot of heavy lifting for processing. See: What is DNN and How Does It Empower Users of ReSound Vivia Hearing Aids? - Ask the Experts 296212

Vivia will go to profound losses as well with UP receiver, however it’s be unsuitable for your left side, nothing worse then putting a receiver into saturation!
