I ordered a pair of ear gear covers for my hearing aids, and I gave them a spin this morning walking the dog.
They eliminate my main complaint: the static sound when the wind flows over the hearing aids. It was nice to walk the dog, feel a breeze, not have to endure the static noise, and hear well!
So kudos to @Drumtek for pointing these out.
However there are a few cons:
They add bulk to the hearing aids, and quite a bit too. This photo attempts to illustrate that. There’s more bulk at the top of the ear due to the hem.
Because of the bulk, I probably won’t use them all the time, which brings me to the second con.
You have to remove the dome to install the ear gear sleeve. With the dome removed you can work the receiver through the hole at the top. I don’t know if I want to fuss that much every time I walk the dog.
The final con is probably the biggest. I notice significant static noise from my hair brushing against the fabric. It’s pretty much non-stop: any time I move my head. I don’t hear this at all when I don’t use the ear gear covers.
So while I really think these work great for eliminating wind noise, I’m doubtful I’ll use them on a regular basis.
YMMV
