THe literature is kind of confusing. In order to use the Roger ON microphone with my Phonak Sphere P90’s, do I also need to purchase the Roger X3 receiver?

That depends on the roger. An “in” model (or v3 as well) can put the receivers in for you, the older models come with two and can be reset a few times to give more. The v3 doesn’t have a limit.
If it in NOT an “in” version, then you either need to find a friend with one, or get the receivers and the roger installer1 pad to move them in, which tends to be the long pole in the tent.
Hope this helps make sense.

Best bang for buck is probably a v2 roger on in. If the licenses were never put back in, you can reset with the firmware upgrader sw on a windows PC.
Finding that installer pad is probably a pain in the butt. As well as X receivers that still have the code.
Best prices with reasonable risk on eBay. I’ve bought tv connectors and roger on docks on eBay. I recently got an Airlink2 for less than $45. Can’t complain in the least. Don’t be afraid to make lower offers on things to bargain your way to more savings.

yes, I’ve been buying things on Ebay, when I see something I want that seems to be a good price I offer half. Most of the time it’s accepted.

No. It is the device used with fitting software to change the programming in hearing aids. Used by and DIYers.
