Roger system with Oticon hearing aids

I have severe hearing loss and 2 Oticon intent. I am doing a trial with both the Oticon edumic and the Phonak Roger system. What I notice is that the Roger system mutes all outside noise when on which means that I can hear the people talking in the mic but nothing around that. This is very annoying and I was wondering whether there is a way around that ? Especially when outside walking for instance I need to hear traffic too and not just my partner talking. thanks
