Sam's Club Hearing Center, do they have good OTC options? OR OTC from Costco?

I see mention of Costco quite often, but I never remeber seeing very much mention of Sam’s

My 85 yo mom despritely needs aids. She has some cheapos she bought years ago and swears that they’re good enough

I’m sorry mom, but they are not. Your TV is so loud we can’t think, and you aren’t hearing what we are saying.

She’s a Sam’s member

I’d like to get her into some “real” hearing aids, but she’s frugal so OTC is probably the way this needs to go

Does Sam’s have any decent options?

as good as Costco’s options?

Also, I’ve never looked into OTC aids so I don’t know anything about what’s out there or what to look for

help please

I think I read that Sam’s is getting rid of their hearing aids so Costco is your best bet.

Costco doesn’t sell the cheap hearing aids. These are all premium rebranded hearing aids.

With a membership to Costco you get a hearing test which is one of the best I’ve ever had along with a 3 year warranty and if you lose a hearing aid free replacement.

Prices start at $1599 for a premium set of hearing aids.

This forum has addressed that awhile back. It’s reported that Sam’s Club is no longer honoring warranties or providing accessories or repairs for previously purchased Lucid hearing aids. So, like me, you should look somewhere else.

Of course, I would have to drive too far (90 miles) to get to a Costco, so that is a consideration. But, since gas prices are not going up too far at present, I’ve decided that may still be a possibility. In fact I called them a few days ago, and asked questions: Do I get to see a Dr. of Aud, do they do remote adjustments, do they do , honor my insurance? They said yes to all but insurance.

So, if you have a Costco within an hour’s drive, I would recommend that.

Is the yours or your mom’s? If your mom’s, she is really outside the range of what can address for much of the upper frequencies — which are needed for speech understanding.

Go to Costco and get her one! This is definitely your best bet it’s unlikely any will be of any benefit if the the TV is that loud overall!

Sam’s Club is now selling aids that are comparable to the Costco offerings .

Sam’s Club has a vendor who sells through it. That doesn’t seem like it could ever lead to as good a service as Costco which sells directly. The switch from Lucid may mean at least some competition for Costco which is good.
