I am giving up waiting for Phonak to upgrade Nadia. I have severe hearing loss, speech is extremely difficulty to understand with current Audeo paradise P90. I trailed new Audeo but didn’t see significant difference. I then trailed Nadia. Better yes, but not going to spend $$$$ on old technology.

Suggestions for hearing aids that are known to help with speech for severe hearing loss.

Which receiver did you try with the Audeos? Your fits the fitting range of the Infinios/Eon with UP receivers (which requires a special mold).

Yes, there are newer options: The Resound Enzo IA BTE (released last year) and the Oticon Verit BTE 105 (released this year) are some examples.


If a Costco is near you, they sell the Jabra Pro Max 30, which is the same as the Resound Enzo IA.

Hi Lydia,

Your hearing loss looks similar to mine, which is also a severe loss. I am lucky enough to own and are wearing Oticon Intents and the Phonak Spheres with 105dB receivers. They just about fit for me. The newer generation, therefore for you, could be either the Phonak Eon or Oticon Reveal. If not the Resound Enzo IA could be an option.

Which Audéo? Lumity? Infinio Sphere? Eon Sphere? As @OcramSagev has said, you can try UP receiver, but I would recommend max 0.5-0.8mm pressure vent or ideally, there should be no vent.

I suppose that your trial was with P receiver (which domes?), which is too weak for you.

I think it's good to pay some $ ($50-100) for cShell with UP receiver and no vent and try again.

I second @OcramSagev suggestion on the for the Costco Jabra Enhance Max (Same as ReSound Enzo IA) which is what I have and love! Either one would still be good for you should your hearing loss change in the near future (I hope not)!

How would you compare the oticon verit with phonaks Nadia ? Maybe even compare oticon with eon?

BTW I have custom molds and Up receivers ( which I hate because the wire breaks every year on at least one side) I’ve paid for replacements 8 times over past eight years.

New Audéo Infinio/Eon Sphere has definitely better UP receiver than Audéo Paradise. It gives you more access to high frequency sounds.

 

However, if your is low, even best hearing aid wouldn't help.

I have severe to profound hearing loss. I have been loading up on extras - tv connector, partner mic and now the roger on (for hearing in groups). I just got the roger on and was pleased with using it at the coffee shop with five people. I heard the conversation so much better. I may uprade to the eon sometime but right now have the Sennheiser R.

Just FYI - it's the Phonak Naida. Not Nadia. I used the Phonak Naida before. And I've given up on Phonak ever upgrading their Phonak Naida Lumity. It's a shame because their Lumity doesn't come in a for my loss, which requires UP Ultra Power, which I upgraded to CROS in 2016 or so and never looked back. The part that made me so angry about the decision was that they did not include a CROS for UP level losses. Like ALL PAST NAIDA models. And they have NEVER EVER FIXED IT. Which made me even angrier.

Ended up switching over to a cShell ear mold with the Phonak Infinio non-sphere I90 plus CROS. Best hearing aid I have ever owned. Period.
