Sizes of Phonak Titanium Molds and recommendations

I have cShell molds on my Phonak Spheres
Want to get a second set - and not confident that the cShells were as long as they should have been? They don’t seem to go in as deep as others I have had, and would like to be able shut off unaided noise better. Also, my cShells seem to be above level, not flush with my ear… Not a critical issue, but weird in a world where unobtrusiveness is the goal.

So figure I would try the Titaniums.
Three questions:
Are the titanium molds and the slim tips the same things?
Where can I find the five or six lengths of the molds that I once read about and refresh my understanding of what would work best for my hearing?
If I want the longest … would the existing impressions Phonak has from two months ago, suffice, or would I need special deeper impressions ?

No. SlimTimps can be titanium and cShell as well. See “Custompedia” or something similar on forum.

I’m not sure what do you mean? I haven’t heard about “five and six lengths…”.

Depend how long previous impressions were. It should be make impression as deep as possible, at least 5 mm past second bend, achieving bony part of ear canal.

My Phonak Sphere vs Virto, Paradise and Marvel
I think in the same way about skin sensitivity slight_smile What I also consider to make new mold: EasyView Otoblock titanium FitGuide? more viscosity silicone for impression silicone filling with my jaw open (my EVERY earmolds in my life was maked with closed jaw) I have almost no problem with occlusion, even when I harder pressing my tragus (light pressing produces strong occlusion, harder pressing diminishes it to zero) when I not wear the HA, so consided no vent or <1mm dia…

I’ll include few stuffs about it later:

First Timer - Going with Phonak Sphere
Thank you. I am considering buying LACE AI Pro from Dr. Cliff’s discount link because of its reportedly scientifically proven additional +6 dB SNR after training, which is massive, but it is quite expensive. Regarding Resound, I did my research long ago and again after the Resound Vivia announcement, but I have found no benefit from their binaural offering (EDIT: this is in my case, YMMV. END OF EDIT). Their solution is only binaural streaming, which is not useful in my case, as I want to isol…

Please keep in mind that UP receiver may be too large for deep placement in your ear canals.

Theoretically, the closer the receiver is to eardrum, the less powerful it could be, but IIRC this rule works only for lower frequencies rather such as <1000 Hz. Maybe @Um_bongo or @Neville could correct me if I am wrong.

Can Phonak titanium slim tips be vented? Mine had to be sent back and swapped for cShells because the slim tip was not vented. Supposedly Phonak offers the titanium slim tip with Activent receivers only? Do I have to go back to acrylic to use a hollow/cavity mold? Phonak has some literature with venting styles other than AOV D vent which is what they made, are any of these more open?

Yes, they can, assuming there is some space next to the receiver. If not, the cShell is the better option because the manufacturer has more flexibility in positioning the receiver inside that form factor and the vent.

Look at “Custompedia” PDF from Phonak. It is in the forum.

I don’t know whether this is a space issue or how the audiologist ordered it. Customspedia is not very clear as in one place it says hollow sleeve molds are acrylic only. In another place it implies it could be titanium also. There is another publication “Custom Earpiece and Vent Guide” which says titanium slip tips are only for ActiveVent.

I see there is a cavity with a round vent and a cavity D shape - are there any cons to the D shape or is it just larger? I’ve tried cavity round vent from other brands, but not a cavity D vent.
