I’m getting a lot of targeted messaging about Smart Hearing Aids. I guess I’m in the appropriate algorithmic demographic. I’m surprised not to find discussion on this site - or am I THAT bad at searching? It seems the best they can say is that they are not very costly and you get your money back if not happy. My question here is - without a customised hearing test, can they be of any real use? Or are they just not-so-cheap amplifiers?

Most likely not, but posting your audogram would help.

Most likely, which “smarts” are you referring to? I’m suspicious already with a name that has “smart” to begin with!

There’s a couple Chinese firms setting up their own lines of rechargeable, Bluetooth devices with smart denoising functionality that you set up with an app driven . I happen to know one of the guys building this side of the market from a previous job.

We’re (under a new business name) about to launch an line in the U.K. based on the same: basically at the beta demos/app tweaking stage

They’re not as pretty/feature rich as the big 6, but they do cross the crevasse/jump between the random bottom end amplifiers and fully audiologist fitted aids.

I’ll not put the link on here as I’m not using this site for gratuitous adverts, but if you want more information let me know via DM as we’re looking for U.K. based reviewers on Trustpilot to give their honest feedback about the product at the final demo stage.

Do not buy from this company. The trial period is a con. I tried these and they kept falling out of my ears so I asked to return them and get a refund. After several emails back and forth they offered £45 against £149.99 cost and no refund on the service cost of £24.99.

Please dont touch this scamming company with a bargepole!

My 84 year old father paid £149 for these aids for my 89 year old mother who has terminal cancer!

From the second they were turned on, they screamed and nothing but switching them off would stop it.

Smart Hearing first offered a £45 refund which was refused, so they offered £75!

This ruthless company have stolen £75 from a dying woman!

Please avoid at all costs!

Smart Hearing sent me two sets - one I'd ordered and one not. The second unwanted one is unopened. When I tried to return both a woman called Lorraine (a bot?) engaged me in a long list of silly questions to answer and things to do then eventually offered £75 for the unopened set. I'm taking this further and will report on progress. We shouldn't let these people get away with it.
