I am unaware of any relevant facility offering where I live. The nearest may be 350 miles away. I do however use and loop systems extensively at work and elsewhere. Nonetheless, Auracast is not incompatible with zinc-air batteries - it simply requires LE Bluetooth. That can be offered at 1.45v. As far as the bells and whistles go, I have very little difficulty in noise using the existing technology. I do have an excellent audiologist who is quite skilled at programming. I don’t wear hearing aids at night either, but not having to worry about charging every day, or not having to carry a charger when traveling, is quite nice.
I don’t think the Allure! will go anywhere near 120dB, more like 110dB, if I remember.
For profound hearing loss, the options on new platforms are either Phonak Naida Lumity or ReSound Enzo IA, which will go a bit beyond 120dB, phonak definitely close to 140dB.
There are others like Oticon Xceed and Signia Motion C&G (I believe), but they are kind old and massive!.
I do think the Widex Moment 13 D can meet my needs sufficiently now in my better right ear, its just that if my loss were to get a bit worse in the next 3-5 years it may not have enough leeway as we both thought.
All of the current 675 ’s have more gain and amplification compared to this Widex though and has plenty enough leeway should my loss get a bit worse. Only complaint is they are bit bulkier/longer compared to 13 battery options. The Signia 4.5 I have been using 95%+ of the time since Jan 20 is still on the first battery at about 15 days so far. even with a lot of streaming audio from the Connexx Tv Sound from TV and PC. .
The canal length I was getting for earmolds from widex/signia were lengths I was using till back in the early 90’s and earlier as my old audiologist got me on a length that I am using now since April 1997 on. Sadly he passed away back in Jan 2022 at 69yo still happily working part time to be busy with routines and projects as he liked to do and not stay still. He would have gotten the earmold with canal length I needed as usual in 1-2 tries at most though the earmold manufacture he normally used closed down a few years ago.
The shorter length was short enough that I would say it was more for moderate loss and would not want it more than 2-3mm shorter as it would potentially have feedback and fit issues and such.
I have never used vents as that one I used with the Widex Moment BTE 13 D, I did not realize it had a small vent till I looked at it closer with a magnifying glass. I was getting the occasional feedback chirps and short squeals that prompted me to examine it closer. Blocking the vent showed it was the main cause along with shorter canal length.
I do not get the occlusion effect due to longer canal length. I cannot hear my own or other peoples voices much in any frequency and do not get damp ears so there is no real benefit of having any size vent.
Well Signia Intuis 4 may be the most current 675 option (that is not basic) though it was released in Sept 2024?. Most hearing aids with support came out in what more later 2025.
The only other Signia 675 option that is current (Sept 2025?) s the Sirion Connect SP T 75 though it seems to be more for the India market and cheap marketplaces in the US since it is more basic. It does not have LE Audio support I believe as it seems to be like basic update on the older Intuis 3 and I cannot get it easily anyways as it might have made for a cheap backup option.
I carry a 675 battery with me in one of those small key chain battery holder cases though I have rarely had to use them since the 675 lasts a long time. I write down on a paper each time I change the battery to have a good idea of when I will likely need to change it. If I have something important that I need to make sure that battery was strong for and is within a few days days of changing then I may change the battery the day before. Waiting for the battery to activate for 1-2minutes if not 5+ minutes is not an issue for me as I will do something in meantime.
Besides the potential rechargeable battery failing in some way before five years and then having to replace it If it fails after five years then it becomes electronic waste here even though the itself may still work fine. The disposable battery aids have the advantage that if they still work fine all you need to do is put in a new battery and it can still be used whether as primary or as a backup. .
