I am trialing Costco’s KS8 aids which are rebranded Rexton/Signia aids. I found this document from Sivantos/Siemens which talks about compression and, although its old (2006), seems to be relevant to my aids.

Under the section on attack and release times it states the following:
Short release times are generally 150 msec or less
Also known as syllabic compression
And later in the section Adaptive attack and release times
Siemens use adaptive compression: choice of “syllabic” or “dual”
compression
In the Connexx 8 software I noticed that you can choose between syllabic or dual under fine tuning, parameters tab. The default is syllabic.
Can anyone with more knowledge than me comment on the differences between the two? Is syllabic better for speech and dual more natural sounding? Or am I way off base here?
I’m thinking of changing the setting in my music program to see if I can tell the difference
