Taking a pause from the forum

I know what you’re talking about and I’ve laid off reading the forum for weeks at a time occasionally. One way I’ve found to put it in perspective is to imagine that the conversation is at a bar and you’re stuck listening to someone who should have stopped drinking hours ago.

I am sorry to see you go. You have been a valuable asset to the forum. However, I can understand your feelings. I have cut my own participation back drastically. Hope you will continue to check in to help those who have asked good questions but have not received useful replies.

@Dusty Yeah, good way of looking at it. The thought may have crossed my mind a time or two: hey buddy, lemme call you a cab, the fares on me.

Many forums may have trailed off due to these sentiments due to evolving issues. Social media competed for time. Now come the AI bots we are training and the AI posts people are making wasting user time. Private forums may survive but are hard to discover.

Sorry to see you go. As forums go, seems to me that this is not the worst place. Yes, some discussions veer off, there are some excesses, and some post nonsense but it is mostly a friendly place where people behave respectfully. Hope you change your mind someday…

Hopefully you’ll be back @MDB I have always enjoyed your posts I must admit, I don’t post as much as previous years, but I have the odd occasional burst, then I just linger for a while… You take care, and hopefully something will catch your interest at some point in the future, and you might have the inclination to post up again? I’ve followed HT for years, just reading posts. Since 2015. I have to say I see no difference now, reading posts versus those from fifteen years ago. For the most part, someone can gain valuable insight into hearing loss and hearing aids by visiting this site regularly. As far as having “fun” here, I seriously don’t think HT was set up for fun and games. Though to each his own.

Sorry to see you go as you add a lot to the forum. I have been there and done that on other forums. I think sometimes a forum can end up being a chore, rather than a fun hobby or sometimes it’s just a case of priorities change. Good to take a break. Hope to see you back one day. Thanks for all your help.
