Target newbie questions

I have a couple of very basic newbie Phonak Target questions - before I actually connect them :

  1. When connected, when I change settings, they are instantly reflected in the aids? When I want to leave the session - it wants me to “Save”. Is this making the changes permanent on the aids and also saved in the session? I cannot see how to abandon a session and discard any changes I might have made (so I can experiment).

  2. If I make changes I like - does the audiologist see that I made them and not her next time I go to see her?

Any other newbie pitfalls I should be aware of? (I have watched several audiology online Target tutorials)

Yes once connected the changers are on the fly, and yes a “save” is just that it will be permanently stored, you should get the option to save to and database.
To experiment you should make up 2 clients, one for your original audiology settings and the other for your projects, do some research and read the target user guides before jumping in, as this will make it easier for your DIY project.

As tenkan said, just load your hearing aid settings in target and without making any adjustment close and save. Then set up another client and load your hearing aids again and this time make your adjustments. If you want to go back to the original settings just load the first client and save those setting to your hearing aids. Yes, the HAS will know that you have made changes because the time stamp will be different. Good audiologists/HAS’s will not care but some will not like it. My audiologist offered to help me with changes. I don’t know how common that is, but it got me started in programming.

I have used AudiogramDirect to check and update the Costco . I have also found using headphones and playing music then live tuning my aids so the music sounds right
