I have a moderate to severe hearing loss. The audiologist recommended Phonak Audeo L50 or L70. The L70 is $2000 more. My son says get the L70 (he too wears hearing aids) as it helps with background noise. Audiologist says L50 will work fine. Does anyone have any experience with either?

L is Lumity. it’s old, make sure you don’t pay a premium price. you can look up the feature sets of Lumity 50 and 70, it’s usually less fittings bands, and less noise reduction and sudden sound protection.

The L model is older technology. The current version is the I or Infinio model. I suggest you.post your to get better responses. If you are in the US you should check the ZipHearing web site to see prices offered by local audiologists that work with them.

If you are in the US, you can get the rebadged L90 at Costco ( Sennheiser) for $1600. The hardware is identical. I’m curious why the Lumity was offered when the Infinio has been out since Sep 2024. As others have said , the Lumity is an older platform released August 2022

Welcome to the forum, woody! It would help solicit suggestions if you posted your actual here. Moderate to severe could be helped wth the Phonak Audeo L70, so don’t make a decision based on money alone.

If speech in LOUD places is a goal, folks here speak highly of Phonak’s Infinio Sphere, but take a look at MY audiogram. I’m likely WAY deafer than you, and do fabulous with Phonak’s Lumity Life 312s. Small, battery operated, but you could also do the rechargeable version of this model.

Here’s your comparison table:

Personally, if the price fits, I’d find the L50s would be fine. You have the basics:

Calm situation, Speech in noise, music.

the advantage of the higher tech levels is their performance in complex environments (including noisy environments ). If these are not part of your life , the 50s are enough.

I would try both, see how they improve your hearing and make a choice . No matter what we recommend , sound preference is very personal .

There are a handful of folks who DON’T LIKE Autosense. They select a group of programs they add and manually switch among them. If the programs they’d want are in the lower tech levels, why pay for what you’ll never use? To each their own.

That makes 100% sense — I ask because I enjoy learning from you guys!

One of my aids is the I30, I can’t even tell when autosense switches the program (there are only two programs in AutoSense in the I30)
