This question is mainly for the providers here but anyone is welcome to weigh in if they know the answer. I took my Audeo P70-13Ts in for warranty service yesterday and was given a pair of L90-312s as loaners for the next couple of weeks. The audiologist loaded the settings from Target and the aids sound very close but not identical to mine and I’m wondering why this would be. Would loading identical settings on newer devices explain this? I know newer devices mean newer features but I’d expect the basic frequency response to be same assuming the same prescription and fitting formula.
Next question is whether Phonak restores settings onto aids when they replace them or if that’s left to the provider to do themselves when the receive them back? I think it is the latter but I don’t know for sure. I’m hoping that when I get my aids back that they’ll sound “the same” as they did before, or can be reverted to that state without having to manually adjust them. Like I said, the current sound is very close and I’ll have adjusted by the time I get my aids back but as anyone with aids will tell you even a small change throws you off for a bit until you get used to it.
