No doubt this subject has been aired before but I can’t find it.
Background: I’ve had my current Oticon Engage for quite a few years now but when my local NHS Trust ended support for what they called “Age related non- complex hearing loss” patients I ended up with another brand (Danelogic) but I still use the Oticon aids for preference.
Everywhere I read that should be changed regularly but all the ‘How to’ instructions don’t apply to my Oticon Engage aids. I contacted oticon, sending a photo of my devices and they promptly replied confirming that my aids to not have wax filters either in the custom moulds or the instrument. Surely this is unlikely as filters are there for a good reason?
I am asking because my aids do have something which they (Oticon) didn’t identify. There is a small object in the transparent ‘hook’ of the aids and I am just wondering if this is, in fact,a filter. If so, how can I change it. I recall the audiologists at the NHS hospital detaching the hook with a special tool. As I say, the NHS no longer provide care though I still have the NHS provided Oticon aids.
Interestingly, The Danelogic Ambio aids do not have this thing in the plastic hook.
I would like to attach photos of the Oticon aids but see how to do it at present!
