What alternative options in Hong Kong?

I'm coming home to visit my father in Hong Kong from the States. He's been having hearing issues, and since l'Il only be staying for two weeks, I figured I'd take him to get a hearing test and potentially get a hearing aid if needed.

I found a place called Kam Health Care Group, and they quoted us $40k to $100k HKD for a pair of hearing aids. Yes, $100k Hong Kong dollars-which is about $12.8k USD! Goodness.

What other options do people have in Hong Kong?

The price is so steep; I never would have thought they'd charge that much.

Holy cow mate yeah that's just outrageous prices, it'd be cheaper to bring him back to the states for a couple of weeks, take him to your local Costco and get all the premium models for around $1699! Have you got a copy of his audogram, maybe hearing aids is all he needs, you could buy a set and take them with you,also another option is projects, buy online and program them for him.

There was another discussion in this forum about this. The most economical option is to cross the border and head to Shenzhen.

There are no Costcos in Hong Kong but there is one in Shenzhen

The High-Speed Train gets you there quickly and Costco is about 3 miles (10 min cab ride, about USD$5) from the train station. If the pricing is the same as the US, that can save you over $10K!

If you are going to do this, you may want to check their schedule/appointment in advance. I do not know if two weeks is enough for the hearing assessment and order the aids.

What about buying a good pair of hearing aids and bringing them to him? Then just have an audiologist there set them up for him? You could even just wear the aids as you get on the plane to say they are yours to avoid any fees or taxes.
