What are the ways to reshape RIC tubes?

My tubes seem to always stick out after a while instead of staying flat against my ears but i have heard that i can reshape these using a hair dryer for a short period of time.

Now i dont have a hair dryer, is there anything else i can use to heat these up so that they change shape?

How much heat do i actually need? i mean is something like a 1000w convector heater alright? or is this something completely wrong?

I wouldn’t heat them up unless a professional advises it. It might cause damage to the wires inside. you might try a different sizes of tubes for a better fit.

My Oticons recommend a hair dryer on the low setting. That would be about like holding it close to a 100 watt light bulb, I would think. I would think you would not want it quite as hot as the surface of a 100 watt bulb after being on over ten or so minutes.

My Oticons came with instructions telling me to use a hair dryer on low.

Think of how warm a hair dryer is, on low. It is fairly warm, however not warm enough to burn the sensative skin around the hairline and neck.

The OP is looking for a substitute for the hair dryer which he doesn’t have.
I’m thinking that very hot but not too hot to touch would work.

There is another consideration about the process and that is exactly what change in the shape of the wire should you try to achieve?

Another thought just occurred. The OP said the wire sticks out “after while”.
It may be he needs an adjustment in the fit of the rather that the wire if it moves out “after while”.

Well when i said “after a while” its more like after 5 minutes, maybe just the movement of my jaw causes it to happen, otherwise there isnt a reason for it to move.

Now what im trying to do is, change the shape of the tube so that when it does “stick out” it will still be flat against the side of my ears.This is not the part where the tube bends just where the receiver is, but the longest part of the tube that you can see once you have put it on.

If i create a sort of S shape then when i look in the mirror, instead of seeing the tube stick out from my head, it should be flat because of the S shape bringing it back in to my head.

Oh and i forgot to mention, i have tried different dome sizes and no luck, also a receiver size wouldnt make a difference because mine is size 0 and anything bigger would just do the same thing.
