I’d say it would be suitable, you have a bit of reverse slope going on, but a UP receiver could help you, otherwise it’s the Nadia which unfortunately doesn’t have Sphere mode as yet, it’s really only your left side at 750Hz that puts you outside of UP receiver, but Signia motion isn’t going to be any better anyway? I think you should ask your Audiologist for a trial of the sphere and you decide if it’s suitable or not for you.
From what I’ve read, the Starkey Quantum might be another one to try our ask your audiologist about. I haven’t tried them myself, but the reports about them sounded good. Good luck!
I wear the Sphere and I’m in and out of a commercial kitchen daily. I think Spheres are worth a try. Note, though, that if you run them in Spheric mode all day, you will only get about 7 hours of battery runtime, meaning that you have to bring your charger with you and recharge for a while during your breaks.
I would look at Phonak Sphere Ultra or Resound Vivia 9 with the latter giving you longer battery life. Based on my listening to a youtube video comparing Phonak, Resound, Oticon in a standard speech in noise track.
If you are in France you have access to discounters that sell top (yes, the Sphere seems a good option). Afflelou, Optical Center, Auzen and some others offer very decent prices. Worth just calling a few around you and ask what they will charge you for, e.g., a pair of Spheres.
Yes, I updated the because the last one might not be reliable. I need to see the audiologist and ask him why only and not . I’d really like to try Phonak Sphere RIC, but I think she’ll tell me it’s not possible with my hearing loss.
And, again, compare prices…by hopping across the border to France I bought my Phonaks for half what they cost here in Switzerland. But even in France you still need to find the right audiologist.
ReSound Enzo would have enough headroom for you, also I wouldn’t worry too much about getting a previous version (platform) they could still fit your loss and how you hear with them is the point of a trial, in the end only you are going to know which of these you prefer.
I think people recommend the Spheres because you specifically asked for noisy environments. That’s where Sphere excels.
Maybe the audiologists are right, but maybe they simply don’t carry Phonak products, or there are other incentives that influence those recommendations.
In your opinion, which hearing aid is best suited for working in a food industry ?
I’ve severe hearing loss and need to change my hearing aids.
I need hearing aids that allow me to hear my co-worker while it’s noisy.
Currently, my audiologist recommends Signia Motion Charge&Go SP 7IX.
What do you think? I’m trying them.
My audiologist also suggested Starkey G Series AI 24 UP BTE 13 before ultimately deciding against it because of older generation chip (Neuro Processor S1).
Greetings from France,
Having fun and take care.
Eric.
Hello Eric,
Hi Eric,
I don’t have enough personal experience with either Signia IX or Starkey to recommend one over the other, but from what I’ve learned talking with hearing aid users, even the latest hearing aids can still struggle in environments with constant background noise, such as restaurants, commercial kitchens, or food production facilities.
One thing that may be worth discussing with your audiologist is whether a system could help in addition to your hearing aids. Bringing your co-worker’s voice closer to you often improves clarity more than simply increasing amplification.
I’m the co-founder of Jabees, and this challenge is one of the reasons we developed HearLink Kit8, a wireless microphone system designed to help people hear speech more clearly in noisy environments.
I’d be interested to hear how the Signia trial works out for you.
