What to try next - custom in ear hearing aids

I own the edge ai ITE and I live them. The sound way better than my old Phonak Marvel which is expected. And in noisy settings, they are really good although not at the level that they show in videos. I do have some occlusion as my bass is pretty good but I have learned to live with it as I dont want to go back to BTEs.

I would suggest not going to virto titanium because you lose the speech in noise feature which makes a big difference. I tried the non sphere infinio hearing aids and they were disappointing in noisy settings and nothing special otherwise. With the infinio’s, you go sphere.

I have been trying the remade half shells. The sound problem is mostly improved, but I am so torn about whether to keep them or try the CIC. The right aid has fallen out a few times, but is mostly ok. The main issue is with the left aid, it sticks out of the bowl of the ear to the extent that I am unable to hold a phone up to my ear without it turning the aid off as I opted to have the control button on the aids. When I lie on my left side I am frequently getting ear discomfort too. I feel like I have made poor decisions along the way and am not sure what to do now. I am seeing my audiologist on Thursday and I will need to make some sort of decision. I could have the left button completely disabled, but I know I need to be happy enough to keep them for 5 years. My audiologist is very patient and accommodating, but I don’t want to be the client who can never be satisfied. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Personally, just my opinion, try the Virto Infinio titaniums. they are very small and you should have no problems with phones pressing on buttons etc. Since they are so small I get no wind noise on them either as they sit so far inside my ear. Re bluetooth, I get it, it’s a wrench, but maybe you could try bluetooth headphones instead. Not earbuds as those clearly won’t work, but there are a ton of other options out there. some of the Sony headphones for example fold up small and have adjustable equaliser settings so you can tune the sound to your hearing loss to a certain extent. Those headphones would go right over your virto’s and you’d not notice I think.
The Virtos also have, at least in my opinion, good speech in noise settings if you need/want that and they have a good music program.

UPDATE In the end I decided to try something different. I like the sound of the Starkeys so I have opted to go for the smaller Starkey Signature. Starkey said that they couldn’t make an IIC to fit my ear canals so I will be trying the CIC. I know that I will miss the Bluetooth, but other features such as health are irrelevant as I already wear an Apple Watch, so I will have to see how it goes. I don’t really see disposable batteries as a huge issue, especially as we don’t have the same packaging in the UK as I have seen so many US users struggling with.
