Had the first and likely final fitting for my Widex Moment Sheer 440’s. Went very well! Maybe too well, ha ha, because thanks to this group, I was pretty conversant in how to tweak the aids and what parameters were under discussion, given that I hope to be self sufficient going forward. Afterwards the audiologist asked me if I wanted to go ahead and send back the Noahlink wireless we used for the session and I said sure, that I had ordered one for future use. I think that caught him by surprise. Anyway, I have to admit I am really happy with the aids.
However, I do have a question re adjusting for music. For acoustical music, playing an instrument, I really like them, but when I am listening to something, and my tastes are pretty eclectic, I am generally defaulting to headphones with my stereo and its equalizer. This is OK, as I honestly don’t expect a device like this to work for every single situation.
However, today I was told during the fitting appointment that the tuning emphasis is on upper frequencies. I like the fullness of lower registers for music, and am wondering how I might tweak these settings. I don’t want to completely hose my current settings, and so I am hesitant to just dive in. I don’t want to increase one range at the complete expense of the other. Obviously there is a music program via the app, but I just don’t see much difference when I play with the settings. So I am wondering if there is some subtle adjustment that might give a bit more fullness of sound without sacrificing clarity.
I have said this before, but given that I purchased online (no dispensers in my region that sold Widex), I don’t think I would have had the confidence to do this without this group. I really appreciate the support and expertise.
