Yahoo Sports app streaming to hearing aids

6/6/26 Starting today I noticed the Yahoo sports app begins streaming a live event to my as soon as the app is opened. It uses the Bluetooth Streaming. As long as the Yahoo app is on the main screen, the HAs are streaming that activity. Actual hearing is reduced. So far I have not found a way to stop this behavior other than closing the app or bringing something else to the main screen. I think my devices and apps are up to date. Any suggestions to stop this behavior.?

Phonaks work like any other Bluetooth headset: When Bluetooth streaming is on , all audio will be sent to your aids . What you describe has nothing to do with the aids .

If the Yahoo is starting automatically, that’s a phone/app feature. You can disable its background app refresh in the app settings.

Downloaded the app to see.

It only allows three options for video replay.

Always, never and wifi.

I have no use for an app like that. I’m really not into video stuff.

You may be able to dig into the phone for more control.

There are at least a dozen things like this that bother me. Apps seem to want to open the audio channel even though they aren’t currently streaming anything. Or it is an advertisement. Eg I have a weather app that does that. Lots of web pages do that, ads play video with no sound, but they open the channel for audio anyway. I find quite often I’m disconnecting my aids from bt on my iPad to stop that for a while. When I don’t actually expect to need audio streaming for a while I’ll even forget the aids in bt. I guess the web page adverts are the worst here.

Hello Whitehat, I very recently installed the “Brave Browser” which has a built in Adblocker, on my M4 iPad, you can set it to block all Ads, which suits me nicely :slight_smile: I was being driven insane on YouTube, I occasionally watch trout fishing videos, but they were becoming unwatchable due to advertising every 60 seconds or so, we now have no more adverts, which is a blessing, it’s lovely to watch a whole video, and not a single advert… Cheers Kev :wink:
