My comparison of Phonak Infinio Sphere with new Resound Vivia

I use my Jabra with an Auracast box connected to my TV & stream music from my phone when travelling…. I have a favourite saved in the App for auracast/streaming that has the noise settings and bass/mid/treble enhancement set the way I want. Galaxy S21 phone & App cause my S25 doesn’t connect HA to App.

I just got the Resound Vivia 9 to replace my Phonak titanium invisible hearing aids. What a difference! The Resound are fantastic and I like the manual operation of noise filtering rather than automatic. The battery like is great especially for my extensive phone, iPad, etc. streaming. …not sure I’m even going to try the Phonak Infinio Sphere due to size, no Bluetooth LE, and limited battery life.

How is your streaming with these? I just got these a few weeks ago and I really like them but streaming, phone calls, and using the multi mic the sound quality is just awful. My audiologist was wonderful trying to figure out a solution but they still sound pretty bad.

Hi I can answer this and it may be due to different types of hearing loss. I have high frequency loss and completely normal low frequency. For some reason streaming, taking phone calls, using the multi mic all sounds like a cheap AM radio from the 70’s that has a blown speaker. There is absolutely no bass. Drums in music sounds like tapping with a finger nail and a speach is cracked and distorted.

My hearing is bit worse then yours. I’m going to order a set of Jabra 30s either next week or the week after to see what results I get.

With open domes, you will have a good deal of bass leakage. So it’s not surprising it sounds like a cheap AM radio. Wearing headphones is the way to go with open domes.

1. I would try cutting a slit in the closed dome to what that does. Costco can supply you a couple extras to experiment on.
2. I would go to the DIY section and get what you need to self-program the hearing aids, and see if you can get the hearing aids dialed in.
3. I would try a vented mold. I believe Costco has a money back return policy on them, but double check to see if I am correct.
4. If you haven’t already done so, I use one of your programs for streaming and make sure you have as much of the computer processing turned off that can be turned off.

I have the resound viva 9 version from my audiologist. She did make a separate streaming program. To be honest I am probably going to try another brand. I need a microphone in noisy situations and the streaming quality is bad with the multi mic.

Streaming is great…I adjusted raising the Bass to 100% and the Treble quite low…and saved this as Streaming. It works great for me.
