Now we have 2 manufacturers that launched new hearing aids that were essentially just firmware upgrades from the previous generation.
Phonak allowed customers to upgrade from the previous version for free!
Resound just released the Sensia, which is the same hardware as the Vivia. There is an improved environmental classifier and some tinkering at the margins, but no free firmware update for Vivia users.
Kudos to Phonak for doing the right thing when they released the ‘Infinio Ultra’ and allowed Infinio users to upgrade for free!
@Lour: Hmmm, Starkey uses OnSemi chips and OnSemi didn’t release a new chip. But I just checked and there are separate FCC IDs for both Edge and Omega. So maybe there are tiny differences.
Thanks for pointing this out, I will edit my original post.
For what I know, only Phonak Infinio Sphere / Eon Sphere offers denoising for monaural users like me.
Resound Sensia loses its AI features when used monaurally, unfortunately.

eresting, I didn't know previously that there is special model for bimodalsolution, which isn't the same as ordinary:
Resound Sensia ≠ Resound Sensia
Resound Enzo IA ≠ Resound Enzo IA Bimodal
I had a conversion with ReSound UK Technical Support this morning. What I learned was:-
1\. Yes 'Sensia' and 'Sensia Bimodal' are different products, available in UK in October currently being trialled in US. The difference is that the standard Sensia has AI features which only work when two Sensias are being used, so won't apply in a bimodal Cochlear situation. Hence the Sensia Bimodal does not have the AI features. When I suggested this would make the Sensia Bimodal cheaper he would not comment!
2\. The same is true between the Enzo and Enzo Bimodal.
3\. The Nexia does not have the AI features so there is no separate "bimodal' model.
4\. The Sensia bimodal would not offer any advantage over the Nexia for my bimodal use.
