My husband was having problems with an iPhone 14. After upgrading to iPhone 17 stopped having the problem.

For veterans reading this, if rated and currently wearing hearing aids, has a contract with Xander to receive a pair free. You have to turn in a prescription if you wear glasses. However, I did this 6 mos ago and still waiting for mine. You can Google Xander website for details. They are ugly and bulky though. I intend to use mainly in theaters and for live plays where I can’t get CC.

Adding my 2¢. I used the Even Realities G1 and got the newest generation, G2. G2 is wildly improved. Battery has been lasting me a full day with heavy captioning. The captioning app, Conversate, has room to grow. You can’t turn off summaries and each run is recorded to a file. Glasses mics in the G2 are good but not 100%. App allows you to use the phone mic but the G2 mics have been good enough for me.
With the G1s I used the MentraOS app too. It has great online captioning and so-so offline captioning. They say they’re going to support the G2 also so I’ll switch over when they do.
Even Realities has started a developer beta for an open source app store. Nothing published for the public yet though.
All in all, great hardware with growing software. Worth it if you have the money and are willing to weather some growing pains. The software isn’t polished enough that I’d suggest it outside of that. LONG delivery time. Expect 2 months.

I bought them in a physical shop in Rome so I had the chance to test them. Check their website for a list of shops in your country, otherwise you can buy them online.
Captioning is great with Mentra OS (an alternative free app to the original one), it really gets every word with a 1 second delay or less.
Nobody has ever noticed those are smart glasses btw.
I paid the glasses 600 euros.
I experienced an hardware problem after 4 months but they sent me a new pair in a couple of days, and their service was great

HI Lilo I tried the Captify glasses and they did not seem to work well and am returning them. Just got the even realities G2 tonight and they seem to work quite well so far…but I have to wear them hanging low like reading glasses in order to see the captions. Wondering how they work in restaurant situtations with say a group. Have you explored other brands as well? I just want them for hearing - could care less about the other features. Would appreciate hearing any hints or further thoughts you may have. Thanks!

Hi Lilo- I am new to this forum. Apologies if this is a repeat but it looked like my intiial response to you did not go through…here goes…
I tried captify glasses and unfortiuately they did not seem to work well for me. I just got a pair of the G2 Even Realities in tonight and have been trying them out and they seem to work quite a bit better so far. I wonder how they will do in a noisy restaurant or with my grandkids little high voices. Do you find you need to be connected to wifi to get them to work well? I also find that I have to wear them on the end of my nose like reading glasses in order to see the captions. Is that true for you too? I have these questions sent to cust service and trust to hear back soon, but since you actually have had them a while I would appreciate hearing any thoughts you may have. I don’t care about the other features such as or directions or messaging. I just want to be able to clarify things when my hearingaids don’t t do the trick and possibly watch TV since captions really bug my wife.
Thanks-

After compaing all the featueres and prices of the different models out there I am thinking of purchasing the Even Realities G2s. The only problem is there approach to lens prescriptions. What you can order from them directly is only single vision lenses. If you want anything more like progressive they suggest using their optician partners. I’m on the west coast all their US partners are on the East Coast. They suggest using their London based partner for online orders but their prices are almost double for everything. Has anyone had an luck ordering lenses online with US based partners.

Hi Brewski54, sorry for the late reply but I don’t often log in to this forum. I don’t have to wear the glasses like that and usually have them adjusted to the middle. The captions have been so-so for my kids but decent in restaurants. At least, better than my hearing!
I’d suggest the Mentra app too. It works for the G2 and some say the positioning is better than the Even app. I like the captions better on Mentra. You’ll have to disconnect from Even, close Even completely, then connect to Mentra. It’s not too hard to go back and forth once it’s set up.

I haven’t tried other glasses but I have seen some people ordering the clip-ons and putting prescription lenses put into those.

Have you tried contact lenses? I have had lense replacement surgery last year, but for many years I had very complex varifocal contact lenses, which also allowed extended wear, so I just removed them once a month. They were the nearest thing to not needing any eyewear - which I now have. I’m also thinking about the G2s but wouldn’t wear them all the time i don’t think.

I’m interested in captioning glasses. I’m so far behind in conversations, I might as well not try to talk.
Perhaps it’s just part of being older. I’m not complaining. The alternative I won’t need glasses or hearing aids

Hi Bea, I am just wondering if you bought any glasses since you posted, my hearing loss is almost the same as yours and very keen on getting a pair myself but cannot decide which to go for.
