Dave,
Firstly, I’m really sorry for my overreaction, I’d had a long day, but it’s still no excuse.
I understand a bit more from what you’ve stated here. You say “removable silicon wrap”?? On my Slimtips, the “silicon wrap” is glued into the slimtip shell. I have 2 pairs of slimtips, and on one occasion, while removing a receiver (or slim tube) one became separated. I superglued it back in. Anyway, this does explain your filter change process, whether it’s how Phonak suggest, or not. In my opinion, your Audiologist has damaged your slimtips, which may have affected their usability and possibly effectiveness.
The numbers on the slimtips are a record of your slimtip mold. You can get replacements within 12 months just from those numbers. The numbers can also be entered into the fitting software.
I do remember you posting photographs of your molds, and they definitely looked like slimtips.
As a conclusion, I suspect your process is as follows:
- Remove receiver (with sleeve attached) from slimtip.
- Remove sleeve from from receiver.
- Change filter
- Put sleeve back on receiver
- Push receiver and sleeve back into the slimtip.
Cheers
Peter
