I found alergies can occlude one or both ears and lessen the effectiveness of hearing aids. There are also some people that have clogged escutcheon tubes.

Thanks DJ!
I wouldn’t have considered that.
I used to say that I don’t have allergies. I do now. Some 3M tape; dust and possibly some foods.
I work in construction. Who knows when dust strikes?

But sometimes I feel I know so little about making my hearing aids work
It’s very tricky when you have to travel for adjustments, especially when it’s hard to describe what you need.
I’m not sure self programming is for you, I wish I was nearer (Canada sounds nice) so I could help.
Take care Dave

I don’t feel self programming is right for me either. First off, I’ve spent way too much time already learning about these hearing aids. I do ask for and receive the Target User’s Report. I know what programs they have activated, and what the settings were. I’ve retrieved information that shows what settings might are and what they might be.
I taught skiing for about 35 years. Nights and weekends. I was really good at that.
I taught at college level for two summers, and did well there too.
I think that there are big holes in the way that hearing aids are provided for the hard of hearing to wear. By that I mean that the programming is essential.
You’re very kind talking about closeness and your comment about Canada. When you come it should be to see and experience Canada! It’s worth the trip. It’s a huge country. I was born on the Pacific Coast. I’ve lived on the Atlantic Coast, and been to Cape Speer which is the closest point in North America to Ireland.
It’s easy to find someone to buy hearing aids from.
It’s hard to find someone that sets them up well.

Exactly right. I only have experience of programming Phonak Bluetooth hearing aids, and have 3 of the 4 generations, which have 3 generations of Autosense. Added to that, Each generation has different levels of tech, dependant on 30, 50, 70, 90. I find some of the elements of Autosense just pointless! For the life of me, I can’t understand the benefit of: “Comfort in noise”. I’d rather just remove them.
I spent 2 days in Canada in 2001. It was likely in the USA’s 1st choice to buy, if they had the opportunity. Shouldn’t be too hard to guess ![]()

I am so worried about pulling my wires while removing my , I use the “sport locks” (as Phonak calls them) to have something to grab that seems harmless to pull.

So I had adjustments made last appointment. Sort of worked
Took the basic Calm program
Made 4 changes. Saved the revised program.
Today I used the Revised Calm program.
It’s a battery waster. 6 hours of use
L is 42%
R HA is 29%
Normal 16 hour day using autosense 4 the right hearing aid is 4% less than the left hearing aid
Phonak Audeo paradise P90 R. Power receivers. 16 hours use. But I heard better

Yeowwww, Dave! I’m glad you heard better, but that’s some scary battery usage. Was something else going on, to eat up that much battery?

The custom slim tips look intriguing! I’m forever pushing my power domes into my ears all day. I’ve had allergic reaction to custom acrylic molds for . Wonder if I could tolerate the slim tip?

So, 6 hours of usage spent 58% energy in the L and 71% in the R HA?
Something is wrong, especially in the Calm program. Are you sure you don’t have feedback or so?
EDIT:
Or might it be mispelling - you mean 16 hours instead of 6?

Maybe titanium, deeply placed, possibly past the second bend of the ear canal if its size would allow it? Titanium is biocompatible.

Nope. I had this issue from the beginning. Use a saved program the rechargeable battery doesn’t last
My hearing aids and charger were replaced at end of warranty. These are new. The battery life using auto sense 4 has been better with the new hearing aids. Except for saved modified calm program

Is your saved modified calm program perhaps set up in such a way as to automatically function at some level that engages an unintended feature? I don’t think a calm program should eat up that much battery. ![]()

I was going to suggest titanium, but you got there first! Titanium also is able to be made in a thinner layer because it’s so much stronger than acrylic, so it’s better able to fit in small spaces - or so I’ve read.

Yes, it was definitely the main reason for getting it, because due to thinner walls I could have it deeper placed, especially with P receiver!

I have indeed thought about titanium molds! I havean app’t set up with my audi this month and can ask ker about these! It would be awesome to not have to push my speakers in all day long.
Thx for that suggestion.

Great! Then ask him/her if it is possible to make deep silicone impression (at least 5 mm past 2nd bend of ear canal) and with low viscosity silicone.
If size of your ear canal increases (seldom decreases) with jaw movement - ask for open jaw technique with bite block (2.5 cm mouth open) before silicone injection.
You could really get much benefits from more accurate acoustic coupling.
The only question is vent diameter - it’s a bit a trial and error. But if I were you I would risk with the smallest vent diameter possible - 0.6 mm for the biggest potential of improving the antinoise features (directionality, etc).
