My other issue in addition to allergic reactions is that my ear canals swell up and down throughout the day. Hard plastic custom molds in my old ITES were difficult to jam in first thing in the morning, but then I’d get feedback leakage as my ear canals expanded by noon.

Perhaps a mold that fits deeper is the answer.

Does.

Simple changes. 6 hours use.

Boosted mid. High. Frequencies. Changed background noise suppression.
Broadened the span of directional microphones.

I haven’t explained well.

I wear my hearing aids about 16 hours a day. I have real trouble understanding speech in noise.
That’s been 3-1/2 years or so.

If I use the basic autosense 4 Calm program there’s about 4 percent loss extra loss in the right “master” hearing aid during the 16 hour day. That works for my normal day. But I have trouble understanding words in my environment.

If I use the saved program calm. Or music.

There’s massive loss in the battery of the right program And I shall have to recharge the hearing aids to use them for my usual 16 hour day. That means I can’t hear at all while they’re charging. That’s not good enough. The minor changes made in myPhonak help me hear better. But the saved program shortens life of the right ha battery too much

The remedy will be to have the care provider change settings in Target again.

He’s not close by. He is really helpful when I see him.

I’ll schedule another appointment. Sound trivial. It’s not with harassment at work. It’s part of the age discrimination I receive there. Real answer is to retire.

Do you change domes based on swelling, meanwhile? Some people do.

No, I’m lucky that these are the double domes shown here. I can just squish them up and press them in. Only on rare occasions have I had irritation swelling that necessitated a M dome on one speaker and L on the other.

It is hard to believe you are using power comes with that loss.

You’re right, @kevels55 has exactly the same problem.

Another solution is galvanizing with gold (please, this is not political or Greek mythology reference about Midas!).
Or supposedly earmols of polyethylene, but these are probably less durable recently.

I did see gold-plating over the acrylic as a remedy for the skin reaction, when I was reading about it. I believe you’re being serious about that option, and not flippant or political - anyone who doubts it’s an actual way of avoiding acrylic reaction can look it up quite easily.

I have not seen anyone with Titanium moulds, nor could I get any private Audiologist’s to make me a “BTE” set, if I mention this, the A.uD rapidly changes the subject! I would imagine, this might be due to the high return rate? Also, I believe, a digital ear scan is required, and the scan is then sent to the manufacturer in Vietnam, which begs the question, has anyone been fitted with moulds using a digital ear scan? I have always had problems with moulds, soft acrylic, some hard acrylic, silicone, except one set of RIC hard acrylic flesh coloured moulds, for my Marvel RIC’s, they have a shiny, waxy feel to them, they fit absolutely perfectly and they cause no irritation whatsoever, even when my ears are sore or infected, I can wear them! But, unfortunately, my A.uD could not give me a definitive answer on what these mould’s were actually made of! Cheers Kev

It’s not necessarily that the material isn’t polymerised, the issue often is that if the material uses an evaporating catalyst (especially the final lacquer), you end up with microscopic holes in the final layer that accumulate your own skin fungus and you’re allergic to its waste product.

This can happen with any material that is polished (micro-scratches) or not fully formed as a crystal. Titanium deposition is different as the metal bonds as one crystal.
