Saving Smart Fit Settings Question

Ok. So if I open my vivias in smart fit and save the setttings does it save every single setting in the program that the audiologists’ program had set? Including machine settings. Like speech in noise setting. Experienced user settting.
What will the option say to save it? I only wanna connect. Save. Then make a second profile and do the same. This seems like a dumb question. I am sorry. Can someone screenshot the save option I’ll hit? Latest smart fit 2.1 Thank you.
Ps. Went to audiologist today. S’s still making sibilance sounds. Not as bad but it makes my hearing aid cut out.

Hi Doug, it’s not a dumb question at all, and yes it’s exactly what you need to do, make two clients, one to save your original audiology settings to, and one for your projects, so connect and then save, this will save everything stored in the , next go to your other client and connect as before, now you can make the changes you wish to make and then save them, just do the demo simulation mode to see how SmartFit works, it’s very easy, most people have no problem but you kinda want to know what your gonna change. The thing to remember is to be sure you don’t have the HAs connected to any other bluetooth devices, so this will show a connection error, so turn Bluetooth off on your phone etc, unfortunately I don’t have my laptop with me for screenshot but it’s in the user manual,so have another read of that, and you’ll see this when you do the demo simulation, everything is the same as you’ll do when doing it in real time.

The newest smart fit update doesn’t require unhooking from Bluetooth. The audiologist made changes today all while I was connected to my app. I read this in the “What’s New” for the update. May 1st 2025 smart fit update. I really appreciate all the information you posted for me. I don’t mean to dispute you or argue. Hope it doesn’t come across wrong. Just letting you know what I learned. Thank you again.

I just read that it’s best to export settings than to save them? What format would the export file extension end in? XML? I seen a few choices. I forgot what they were. I’ll save and export a copy of each file extension to cover all my bases. I read this here in the forum. No big deal. Just trying to learn. Thank you.

Yeah there’s always that option to export/import feature, the default is to your desktop, but I used to use a flash drive, but I’ve never had to bother in all the years I kept it that I ever used it again, the thing is once I went I never looked back, my original audiology settings sucked anyway :wink:

I am still dealing with feedback. She didn’t fix it today. She blamed it on me that my dome wasn’t in right. I’ve tried over and over to insert it different ways. Nothing is working. I’ve tried every size and make of domes excluding fitted mold. It’s only my left ear. That canal is smaller. I only get feedback when I get near a wall or something. They have one of those locks on it. The thing that looks like a zip tie. Feels like that’s keeping me from pushing the dome in far enough.

Yeah I’d try custom molds for both sides, with the correct sized vents and canal lock so no movement, very strange if you’ve tried “all types” and still had feedback? Like even with the or power? number one reason for feedback is the sounds are leaking out past the dome, next they needed to check that there’s no build up of wax, as this is another common reason, but if your using open domes then they need to find which frequencys are the main cause, the shape of your ear canal could also be an issue, once you get connected for your project, drop some of the higher frequencies down 1 or 2db and see if you can reduce the amount of feedback, try not to set the DFS (Feedback management) too high as this can cause other issues.
For severe/profound losses a little feedback is usually acceptable, but your loss should be able to eliminate it, especially if there’s none from your right (which is worse then your left) something is off!

Yes. My left has something going on. I’ve had an ear ache for over a year. Drs say my ear looks fine. But they’ve given me antibiotics oral and in the ear. Just two weeks ago when I seen the ear specialist I told her my ear still hurts and Is swollen. She told me to use my ear drops again. They’re not working.
I’ve used a Bobby pin all my life to clean wax out. I know some say don’t do that. I got the habit from my mom who cleaned my ears when I was little with a Bobby pin. It feels so good. Anyways my point of telling you this is this is how I know my ear canal is swollen. I can barely get the Bobby pin in there now.
Another note. Ear Dr had an xray done recently. Said it looked fine. But I know it isn’t. I feel pressure. It hurts.
I don’t think it’s wax. I put peroxide in my ear and layed on my side a good 5 min. Then took a syringe like for baby’s and flushed it bout 8 times. Good flushes. No big wax comes out. Bout 4 months ago I got big wax out though. I flush my ears about once every 6 weeks.
All drs always remark “you’ve got the smallest ear canals I’ve ever seen”
I’ve tried power domes. Normal ,Open, closed ect. Small medium even large.
Giving them a call now. S’s are still making my left hearing aid cut out.
Ps. I notice on people’s their lines kinda match but one being lower than the other.
Mine don’t match at all. Thank you for listening. Calling them now.

Anyway to screenshot how I choose the high frequencies? Not sure since there’s not a lot of videos like that.

Actually hold up, I’d try and find what’s going on with your ear first, otherwise you’ll end up with everything out of wack, making adjustments right now doesn’t seem the right way to sort it, but I’d happily walk you through it.

I just read this online. It says something about baseline. Seems like it’s saying every change the audiologist has made since I got them will be lost? Here’s the cut and paste.

SmartFit and your audiologist’s software likely compare settings based on timestamps. Saving your current settings creates a new “baseline” in your SmartFit database, which might not match the audiologist’s most recent adjustments.

If your audiologist makes further changes (e.g., after a follow-up appointment), your SmartFit database will not reflect these updates, potentially leading to confusion and inaccurate settings.

Sorry Doug, yeah you just gotta stop overthinking all of this, hundreds of people every month start their first projects without stressing about all this, just take it one step at a time, forget what you’ve read, it’s meaningless don’t worry :+1:

It’s really not this difficult. When you get into SmartFit you “create a patient” connect to your hearing aids, then exit and save (which is an option).

Then you go into SmartFit again and make a second new patient, connect to it and save but not exit. Then you make changes and when you are happy save and exit. You only change this second patient, so you can always go back and reload the initial settings from the first patient.

When you get back from the audiologist at some future date, you do all of the above all over again. So you can always go back to the audiologists current setting.

Once you are doing your own adjusting in SmartFit, the audiologist will always know because of the time stamp when he/she connects to your aids. So ask him/her to save your settings into their system so that your changes aren’t lost.

It’s all a lot easier to do than to explain!
