I’m on the East Coast but have found all of the Costcos to be pretty much the same. I suggest you try the closest one. You can always change even in the middle of trying a pair

Thanks for response. Unfortunately I have found they’re not consistent out here. Relocated recently and disappointed in 2 closest centers, so thought I’d reach out for any recommendations.

The volume of patients Costco serves is high. If you relocated from a less populated area of the country it is possible no Costco will be the same as they are a victim of their own success at the moment. They could be more organized and seem to struggle when they have new staff being trained or staff who have not yet been weeded out.
If you were unhappy with the individual fitter you could try another.

Find a way to select a different technician at your nearest Costco. Usually they have 3 staff per station. . . one is likely to be desirable. It’s not always easy to do, but worth the effort. I certainly have my favorite at my nearest Costco, and it’s changed over the years as they move around. Generally, they are good.

What area of SoCal? Im near Palos Verdes. I have tried the Torrance store, didnt like the techs and waits for appointments are bad, like months. Signal Hill store is ok, usually pretty short wait for an appointment but didnt like the techs because they didnt like me tinkering in SmartFit. Hawthorne store is ok but again, long appointment waits. The Inglewood store is the farthest away from me that i have tried and i really like the tech, waits for appointments are as fast as next day and never more than 1 week out. Tech seems knowledgeable and competent. So the Inglewood store is my pick.

Thanks for sharing your experiences. I’m in South Orange County, and have gone thru some of the same dances here. Chaos at Irvine due to good person retiring, hiccups at Tustin so not sure there. Wondering if Laguna Niguel might be better.
Inglewood is a bit too far. Thanks again for responding.

Thanks for sharing your experience. I found a great tech at Tustin. Busy center and two week wait for hearing retest, however this tech is worth waiting for and closer than Inglewood.

Disappointing. Tech changed programming and its not good, In fact very disorienting and unpleasant. My bad for letting her because now I’m on business trip and feel like I’m in a tin can, with speech hearing worse. She replaced the domes, didn’t do it right so they were really uncomfortable (I have a very narrow ear canal, esp the left one). I was able to get to Costco Irvine before they closed to have domes changed before I left. (relief!) I’m really frustrated because I thought Tustin be good. A well intentioned young person, enamored with technology and jumping in change things up (which make it worse). Now I’m trying an international call to her in hopes she can remotely change programming back to the way it was. Thank you for caring enought to follow up, and for listening because only another wearer could possibly understand my rant.

Thats disappointing. I had s similar experience at Sig Hill. One tech would improve things, next tech would set me back. Its not cool because it gets so we settle for less than ideal for fear of only hearing worse if we dare let them “improve” things. What aids do you have again?

Phonak - my first ever. They’ve been okay, and I only commented to tech that in crowded room or meeting its still hard to hear specific conversation. Common problem. She excitedly said she’d redo the profile to fix that. The adjustment doesn’t help. Seems to magnify all sounds in a narrow range and I feel like I’m in tin can. You’re right, when things are somewhat acceptable, we settle. This was a lesson in not letting them change anything unless I can get back in right away to fix a bad fix.
